Having seen those pics, I feel a bit more positive about how this might happen - it seems a (small) amount of care has been done to paint the car, and it hasn't been totally destroyed!

Also, looking at the top gear website, there is a short clip of them speed-testing an old-bill Astra around the track (Stig driving)...Quite exciting to see how the Coupe performs in the same test (as I'd the Astra is used as timing benchmark).

Duh! Iafter all this build up I will miss this as I go on hols Saturday night well really, but you know what I mean

In response to those sweet pics. At least the bonnet took the brunt. No rear enders etc. Plus all headlights and side lights still work so no dodgy electrics . Looks in good nick I think it may have done well. Lol at the last pic with the hand print on the rear windscreen. Must be Clarksons hand.

Ive a new web server and happy to host it, but my upload speed is a bit pants.

I'm going to try and reinstall my TV card on the computer so i can record it! is topgear in HD on freeview yet?

I only found out about the new series of topgear while in hospital yesterday, while waiting to have my tonsils removed i was eliviating the bordom with a copy of the topgear magazing. i was reading the articals about the new things for the show and spotted the police car challenge, when closly examining the photos i burst out laughing noticing a distinctive green coop my instant reaction was "that's clarksons"!

it'll probably be a pretty good choice especially if they're putting it up against a T5 which also has a top speed of 155mph.

I've just sent marcus20vt a text as well, being a former forum member i dont know if he's read this but i though he should be informed imediatly because when his little sprogs came along and he letgo of his beloved broom yelloy 20VT he got himself a suzuki vitarta insted!

howerver, whenever clarkson enters one of these top gear challenges, he always picks something for comic value, but something with far too much style and power, i'm really looking forward to it! i always look forward to top gear it's the only reason i own a TV! but this series i'm looking forward to it even more =D i have a feleingit's going to make it even harder for me to sell my coupe though... finantialy i cant keep her but i love her so much i'vedug myself into debt to keep her, which is something Richard hammon admitted to doing with a 911 in his biography, which i've also been reading in hospital.

Set to record on my Mythtv box I will endevour to convert to a smaller file format and maybe make a torrent for it, seems a good way to preserve it on the "net"

C'mon the coupe, be strong

In the Sun yesterday in Clarkson column it mentioned the return of topp gear and the police challenge.

He something along the lines of 'And as ever it ended in lots of smoke'

Let hope its not the coupe......

I guess by the comic handprint on the rear window and boot lid it's had to be pushed at somepoint.

Should be funny, but the coupe is going to get slated and then break I suspect!

I can just see if now, Hammond and May standing by a Vitara as Clarkson pulls up in the coop, brakes squeeling like a HGV, and as he gets out, it rolls into the Lexus as the handbrake doesnt work.

I thought it was great. looked awesome over sterring round the corners and looked the part when it was just inches behind the astra

I thought it was MINT.

TBH that could have been a lot worse.

Not much of a "review" but we weren't expecting that. I think it came off looking powerful (lots of tyre smoke) and well praised styling wise by Clarkson.

Not too shabby. I wish he'd done a proper lap though

and most importantly no mechanical failures (except the rear wheel of course).

Lets be honest here, i think its pretty obvious that when he turned up in the coupe it was decided that he had a big advantage. Hence the reverse start on the timed lap, and the blatently stupid bodeseer spikes. And to show this they gave it enough points to only just miss out on the win.

Thought the colour was lush

I would just like to add that I never had those spikes fitted when I had my cracked wheel incident .
