Hey guys, can anyone reckomend some lowering springs for my 20vt, Also am just looking to change the springs not the shocks as they are fine and dont want to outlay that much cash, is this a problem??

here you go you lucky so and so brand new eibach springs on this list, will lower your car by 35mm they are the most used lowering spring for the coupe

im interested in lwering springs and a strut brace...do the lowered springs have much of an adverse effect in the coops ride..>????

are other kind of lowering springs any good? or i am best sticking with eibach? they are almost twice as expensive as others eg spax, apex, PI

Dont go for PI springs, ive have heard nothing but bad reports about them.

iv got cobra spings on mine, doesnt hardly lower the front but the back went down abit. i would keep ur money for something else

i ve just fitted 18" Azev C's to my coup and its looking slightly high, so was wanting to try and lower it.
I thought it should lower the car upto 35mm?

40mm on the cobras but as i said it lowered the back more than the front. or is it just me.. i got mine from here

Here's my 2p worth....

Do not lower the car with just springs, as the ride is ruined, and the handling is poor.

Get a quality set up with matched dampers and springs.

I would also not reccomend you lower the car more than 30-35mm as if you have LE lips you'll rip them off on something in no time. The wishbone angle tilts up if you lower the car too much (as you are basically lowering an allready lowered Tipo) and this also effects the handling.

If all you want is a cheap solution that makes the car look good then please feel free to ignore the above.

hubby the best setup you will get for your car are billys and eibach,billys will cost you 365 and springs about 180 but you could just run on the eibachs as a lot do on here,they will lower you about 30 to 35 so that nice and safe

Yes - I've run three different setups, and have tried different drops, 25mm works best. 20 would be fine, but the car would look like an off roader.

I've got PI springs I think (previous owner fitted them), no mention of any shocks either so I'm guessing standard ones.

I've never had any other setup so I cant compare and say how good or bad the PI springs are, but would be interested to hear other peoples opinions of them.

I think my car handles great, can keep up with any other FWD car around the bends, very planted and confident. Ride quality is awful on the very worst roads with potholes etc, but on most roads it's fine.

What would I gain by changing them for eibachs?

I've got PI springs too - no complaints, I replaced the front dampers with standard gas ones & run KYB's on the rear which keeps things nice and pointy.

You would be better off going for dampers IMO if you are on the standard ones.

i dont have any problems with my springs, no rubbing or anything like that but iv only got standed wheels on.

You have to be very careful with the tyre choice otherwise they will rub. The ride is also crashy. They do look good, but 17's are a better all round choice.

suba is right, the 17 inch alloys were put on for a reason, any bigger and it will affect the ride, any smaller and you get the same result. there was a great piece one month in evo magazine which talked about how critical wheel size and tyre choice are. different sizes and tyre types are put thru testing when a car is being developed until the optimal compramise is found. i must dig up the magazine piece and post it up, very interesting.

The standard wheels are 16's.

No, because if you pick the right size tyre then the radius is the same, bigger wheels, thinner tyres.
