...........Or so I thought

In march last year when I started my job, I was paying £220 a month in fuel.

Now with fuel hikes I have to pay £300 a month + the council have decided to make the car park we all park in for work £3 a day where before it had been free \:\?

Making it £360 a month in travelling expenses + servicing costs °\(

I was already getting close to having to get something cheaper, something boring to replace the coop.

Then a miracle happened, it turned out one of the managers at work was lift sharing with a couple of other people to work and had a space in the car for me \:\)

He has offered to do all the driving for only £60 a month!

Therefore the coop will become a weekend car and can afford much more to be spent on it now....yippeee \:D \:D

So from £360 + 2000 miles a month....

To £60 and maybe 250 miles a month!

The coop will live on better than before sometimes stories do have happy endings \:#

Result!

...so er, do the rest of us have to hope for a bit of rare luck to combat the induced ever increasing cost-of-living, or should we continue to to hope for a Coup D'etat?

That's something like what has happened to me. We've changed studios and I've gone from free parking to £17 a day oh yes. So I'm on the tube and catching up on my reading.

Currently reading Chuck Culpepper's Up Pompey. Quite good.

I might be lift sharing as well in a few months.

There's a new lady starting at work in September that lives quite close to me. We could alternate cars to do the 25 mile journey each way to work.

It just depends if she can bear my 6.30 am start! ;\)

Hey so your job situation worked out then

As for car sharing, I'm not sure I could do it. they'd have to put up with my driving style (which would wake anyomne up in a moring, and my music \:D ) I'm too much like - eat my dirt sucker \:D

Kind of related...

Watching some classic Top Gear on Dave from back in 2003 yesterday, I saw a feature with James May talking about his old Roller for Mondeo money. At the pump he was filling it up wheni noticed the price. 78.9p a litre \:o

That's an increase of 50%. Basically I bought my coop around this time. I wonder if I would have done if I knew it would effectively be doing 14mpg a few years later...

F****** b****** thing...

I'm the other way, used to car share in my mates laguna estate, super cheap! Now 4 of us sharing but only 3 drive, my 20vt, a 182 clio and a 180 GTI golf, none are exactly economical! Still 4ways its fairly cheap still.
