What about the scorpion zorst with the 4” imola trim .

Put it with the ram air induction kit and the super sprint de-cat and it's loud enough to wake the dead

www.europerformance.co.uk

Got my zorst from hear for about £325 last year, but the price has now dropped to £265 + £12p&p .the zorst is very well made and bolted straight on with no mods to the rear bumper .

Just a quick note but I fitted the blue flame zorst to my m8’s st24 and it looked exactly the same as the mongoose. We took of his old piper setup and put that on and lost power + torque .

Sorry I forgot that you was over seas and far far away .

If the zorst states that it is a cat back it should fit like a STD part then the supersprint de-cat is a direct replacement for the STD cat, so it should all fit .

the Scorpion zorst should be available abroad as well so have a good look around.

ok, so i can conclude that the best system for a STD car, is
the supersprint Cat back + De-cat, performance -wise and price-wise, however it will not last as long as other options as it is made from mild steel. am right??

Yeah it helps spool up a bit more but can also make the seals not last as long due to less back pressure from the system

Turbo seals can be uprated to with stand less back pressure, only aged turbos seals will weap.

It is still be of benefit to retain slight back pressure as none at all will actually slow the spin up of a standard turbo.

The standard Fiat exhaust has a number of different inner bore diameters rangeing from just over 2" to 2 and a quater inches at best. The main problem with the OE Fiat exhaust is the labourous route that it takes thus most after market exhausts will offer a slight improvement due to less pipe work.

All OE exhaust from Fiat are mild steel and thus have a limited life, the Super Sprint offers a good package only let down by the mid section which is mild steel and the rest low grade stainless steel.

The Milltek was NOT based onthe Supersprint - it was based on MY design - I was behind the design of the Milltek system and race cat.

cheers hanny,
but do you mean that i will damage my turbo if i fit a supersprint De-Cat ???
it is 2.5" size not as other 3" systems and also i will use the De-cat directly to the OE fiat manifold and other OE parts, so i think it is enough to maintain the required back pressure...

First of all you need to establish what you intend to do with your car interms of modifications.

Next you need to decide what you want, ie noise etc.

Then take into consideration your current set up and what is your budget.

A De-cat will not damage your turbo but a De-cat will show if your turbo seals are weak/old and due to the reduced back pressure it may cause the turbo seals to worsen quicker than if you kept the standard cat on.

To upgrade you exhaust system will give to some/all of the following (depending of current set up and condition of your Coupe):

Quicker turbo spool up - ie you will have full boost sooner on the rpm range.

Better midrange punch - this is as above.

Slightly more performance as the engine is able to breath more.

All the above will vary according to what you have had done ie if you have a better air filter, better turbo and chip the car can be transformed.

As to sizes - the norm seems to be between 2.5" and 3" - I would advise that if you not intending to push the 300bhp mark and beyond that a 2.5" would be fine.

Depending on which manufacturer you use but most decats will fit varing exhaust configurations.

Here are the parts to the exhaust:

- from turbo to cat is called the down pipe.
- then you have the cat.
- midsection
- rear silencer

Note the midsection and silencer combined is called the 'Cat back'.

I have run the following combinations:

Standard down pipe, standard cat and 2.4" Supersprint cat back.
Standard down pipe, standard cat and 2.5" Milltek cat back.
Standard down pipe, 2.5" Milltek race cat and 2.5" Milltek cat back.
Hayward and Scott 2.5" down pipe, 2.5" Milltek race cat and 2.5" Milltek cat back.
Powerflow 3" full system with de-cat pipe from turbo to tail.

My favourite set up for normal use was - Hayward and Scott 2.5" down pipe, 2.5" Milltek race cat and 2.5" Milltek cat back.

Best for balls out performance - Powerflow 3" full system with de-cat pipe from turbo to tail- but could be a bit too loud when not going for it.

Thanks hanny,
very useful post,

as my car is STD (on the way, Gtech1 & PRV) and as i don’t want to extremely rise the power (in stage 1 at least), i think the following combination shall be fine with my setup (correct me if not):

Standard down pipe, Supersprint De-Cat and Supersprint cat back.

i tried to get the miltek racing cat + 2.5" Milltek cat back, but it will seriously cost me alot (and i dont think that there will be much difference from supersprint)

Cheers

Two weeks ago bought a Miltek system from these guys Westec Performance and got a 10% discount by quoting GOOGLEAD0406 it cost £339 delivered. Fast service from these guys too, ordered Saturday, arrived Tuesday .

However the exhaust was far from satisfactory, I nearly returned it

I have the Miltek race already fitted so it should have been a straight swap with the old SuperSprint already fitted. How wrong can you be

My local exhaust fitting place (not QuikFit ) quoted £25 for fitting so booked in with them. They offered the Miltek up to car and it seemed to be okay, so the fitter proceeded to remove the blowing SuperSprint system (as usual the centrepipe was gone).

The Miltek backbox was hung in place and fit was pretty good, then the centre section was offered up and there appeared to be an 8" gap between the race-cat and the Miltex exhaust .

The fitter tried every-which-way to make it fit but it wasn't possible, and they didn't have the equipment to manufacture a connecting tube. The job was abandoned and luckily I didn't have to pay. The journey home was interesting and loud because I only had the race-cat and 2 feet of centre pipe for an exhaust.

So I had to go to a local Powerflow place for a tube to be made and the exhaust to be fitted.

The Powerflow fitter did a good job of wielding an extension onto the Miltek centre pipe and proceeded to fit the whole system, however no matter how he tried the tailpipe didn't fit in the bumper cut very well, it was either to high and touching the bumper or hung to low. He suggested that the simplest thing to do was to cut it off and re-fit it. And he mangaged to get a perfect fit . The whole job cost £50 so not so bad really.

The sound of the Miltek is excellent, I prefer it so the old SuperSprint, not to loud, no droning but a nice deep, throaty note.

Miltek fit 2/10, Powerflow fitting 8/10, Miltek sound 9/10

What's the scorpion like for sound? I like mine fairly loud, not chav-like but I like to really hear that 5-pot burble when gunning it.

The supersprint is a great price but is it loud? I would run it with a supersprint de-cat.
