Hi, i went of the rollers today (see other post) and on my second run at 5800 my widget flashed up throttle pot failure, it is on all the time now even after turning engine off and on again.

Has anyone come across this problems as it made my car drop power.

Thanks Ash

Is probably that the throttle potentiometer is sending an erroneous signal. This is the device that measures how open the throttle butterfly is in effect. There is a signal out that gives its position relative to a pre-defined maximum. If the ECU doesn't know the throttle position then it is going to have to put in an abitrary amount of fuel when the MAF is maxxed out (over 5500rpm usually)

They never normally go so you should be able to pick a second hand one for a few quid.

I had this fault come up on mine. It happened on a very hot day when the weather had been very dry over the last few weeks.

I disconnected everything and cleaned/sprayed the sensor with WD-40. After a restart the problem went away and it hasn’t come back since last summer.

Coupe now sold!
