Im going to see a 1998 coupe in ink black with red leather int. tomorrow, it passed its mot last month and to get it through it has had rear brake disks/calipers/pads, suspension wishbone, and rear wheel bearings replaced. stainless steel exhaust put on 2 years ago, still under warranty and new batterylast summer with 3 year warranty. the cambelt, with all belts and tensioners, and water pump changed less than 2000 miles ago. its just the 145,000 miles thats playing on my mind, what do people think?

its not a turbo this one, i dont drive quick enough to justify the extra insurance for the turbo, the standard 2.0 20v is more than enough for me, just wanted to know what people think of the mileage considerin the work its had done, and it looks to be in good condition. seats are totally fine, and bodywork looks good so it seems to have been looked after. any thoughts? what would people pay for it?

£1200-1500? I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage on an n/a given it'a had all the major work done, bar clutch maybe (about £400). Drive it and see what you think - they all have a few niggles, coupes for you Lot of car for not a lot of money

yeah the clutch was the one thing i was thinkin about. £1500 was the area i was thinking, if it drives nice ill maybe go to £1600 if everything feels right about it but im prepared to walk away at anything past that. its goin for a vast chunk more so it'll take a good deal of haggling.

£1600 sounds quite a lot for a 145k n/a to be honest - I p/ex'd a very good 90k one with leather/air/sunroof for £2k in March and prices have dropped since. I assume you've scoured the for sale section

well i went to see the car, slightly suspect clutch, very suspect handbrake, and a bleb on the inside of the offside front tyre. in my opinion a generous mot pass and a few hundred quids worth of work in the not too distant future. bloke would come down to £1700 so i walked. wasnt too taken with the colour in all fairness so it wasnt a hard choice.
