For the last two years I've been with Noel Dazeley and found the service and more importantly the prices very good. This year with my policy due on the 3rd August I got a letter last weekend saying that my insurance was due and they were sure they could get me a good price! No NCB proof or an actual price just asking me to call them. So I phoned them last Monday and they said they would call back Tuesday. Wednesday afternoon they actually called to say that they "thought" it would be around the same price as last year (£380) - to which I informed him that I had already got a quote from Confused/Privilege of £330. So he said he would see what he could do. So I’ve not had a renewal notification and proof of bonus within the legal timescales and they still haven’t got back to me with a price. Not happy.

Doesnt sound like the end of the world mate. AFAIK you actually have to ask your old insurer for proof of no claims rather than them automatically sending it to you. Well at least thats what i've always had to do with various insurers.

Have you actually called them back? I've never had an issue with ND, apart from their answerphone saying they are only open M-F when they are actually open Sat am, which caused me a little bit of aggro and cost (not end of world tho)

I always find the whole renewal price of £XXX 'but we're sure we can do better than this' saga a bit tiresome. Although saying that, they've so far managed to equal or better any other quote that I've put to them.

AFAIK you actually have to ask your old insurer for proof of no claims rather than them automatically sending it to you. Well at least thats what i've always had to do with various insurers. By law your insurance broker/insurer has to send you your proof of bonus and renewal advices 1month before it's due. I know that as I spent 16yrs in the business and my partner is still in it. On a side note one year I gave me credit card details to a broker to pay for my insurance but they didn't take the money, when it came to renewal they refused to send me my NCB proof till I paid up. I refused and pointed out it was there mistake and by law couldn't hold back the ncb proof so they eventually sent it to me. I have spoken to ND and they will call me Wednesday at the latest. It's still poor service (from a company I know can be good!) as I shouldn't have to chase them to find out what's going on.

I'm with them too! Doubt I'll stay with ND when my policy expires in November

I am with ND, and was last year too. i renewed my insurance in april where they originally quoted me £10 less the the previous year (although i had been declaring mods as the year went on ) i did a bit of shopping about, found a cheaper quote, informed ND i'd found a cheaper quote, ten minutes later they phoned me back and matched it. i ended up saving over £100 akthough ND are not actually my insurers tho, its actually highway insurance ninja

i have been nd for the last two years. renewal time this year they quotedme about £10 less than last year although i had a claim last year. So i plucked a figure of £526 out of the air which was £200 cheaper than they quoted me. They went away and came back with a price of £515.

They finally called me Friday afternoon. They must have been pyschic as I had just got back from work and was just looking for the number to call them! the upshot is that they can't even get close to what I apid last year let alone what I've been quoted elsewhere so I'm going elsewhere.

They can't have liked me, my renewal doubled after my claim.
From what I read on here, they seem very inconsistent with what people actually pay.
Good for some, bad for me!
Interesting the same should happen for ChimChim and me at the same time though.

Well I finally got my car insured - with Elephant. I HATE their adverts but when I confirmed the figures off Confused before going ahead Elephant appeared with a lovely looking £320! I had a spot of bother on their website because the security number for Amex is not a three digit number on the back of the card but a four digit one on the front so I ended up called the dreaded call centre! The call was answered quickly by a nice english lady who went through the details and so it was all sorted Saturday morning. Got the documents today - very quick and noticed that on the certificate it said "The policy does not cover………use on the Nurburgring Nordshleiffe, ……"! I've not seen that before - so I guess I'm ok on any other circuit then!!

Dazeley's do seem to have lost the plot of late - they went from being very helpful and efficient, through quoting absurd premiums which could be REDUCED to about a third of the starting position simply by asking (so why try it on at such a high start price?), to not returning calls and not being interested in seeking decent prices even for existing clients. My business is now elsewhere after a run of several years with ND, including giving them the benefit of the doubt over issues in the past.

Well I've had enough of ND - after repeated asking for my proof of bonus (which by law they should have sent out with my renewal letter) I've told them just that unless I get my NCB in the post tomorrow I'm making a complaint to the Financial Services Authority.
And what did the lady say "OK, thank you." - appalling service.
