I was just wondering those of you who have one of these / used one could you give me your opinion on them?
Are they really worth £150? The paintwork on my Sprint Blue is shabby to say the least, and I seem to think if I buy one of these its going to come up like new. Am I seriously deluded here, or are they really that good?
I've tried many different hand waxes/polishes/3 stage treatments, and it's still covered with swirls and light scratches!
Thanks all
Ben Yes they are pretty good mate. I think it will take practice and experimentation for me to get perfect results but if you look at my other thread that Stan linked to you can see some of my results. Some of the deeper scratches etc are still visible but much less defined. I think I can get them out with more work be for a first attempt I am well happy.

i have a porter cable which the g220 is based on,wouldnt be without mine now, no way you will get rid of swirls without hours and hours by hand even then you may not remove swirls. machine polish is the way to go,with the right polish you should get good corection. get yourself over to www.detailingworld.co.uk and have a look at a few before and afters on cars.

This picture has been hoisted from www.cleanyourcar.co.uk It was undertaken with a Porter Cable NOT a Meguiars G220. The G220 results should be similar though. I've got a G220 and I'm pleased with it but you will need seriously time and dedication to get results like this.

easier to burn through your paint with a rotary i.e silver line as a beginner i would start with a dual action ia a porter or g220,i spent about 8 hrs polishing mine it can take a couple of days if really bad.

Well to update this thread, I have found there is a cheaper alternative available now, the Kestrel DAS-6. Initial reports are it's as good as the G220 so I've ordered it (£140!! The polisher is £90 on its own )
So hopefully next weekend I should have some before / after shots. I'm going to do the Bonnet first and see if it's any good!
Ben
