Hi guys,

just thought i'd get your views on this one, basically as some of you might be aware my green coupe was written off a good few months back (not my fault) and I bought a new coupe which I continued insurance for under the original policy with Greenlight. The policy is now coming to an end and I have been with Greenlight for probably 3 or 4yrs.
I have recieved a letter saying that they will not be renewing the policy.

I'm guessing this is due to the accident as I have never had this happen and it was my first accident (6 or 7yrs protected no claims bonus), in regards to the accident the other party was reported for a traffic offence which caused the accident and I received a pay out from the other sides insurance company.

I feel a bit let down by Greenlight after being with them for so long and being dropped after one accident which wasn't even my fault, plus Im now wondering what if any impact this will have on the cost of renewal with other companies.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? It's a shame as I was happy with Greenlight and had no problems with the way the accident was sorted out.

Cheers
John

Greenlight's a broker - I guess it's down to their underwriter / supplier. I've never been refused insurance but my premiums have shot up following accidents despite having a protected NCB

I'd be careful with your wording here - I very much doubt that the letter from Greenlight says that you are being refused insurance, just that they are declining to quote for you this year.

The distinction is important, because when you get insurance quotes one of the questions you will be asked is, "Have you ever been refused insurance or had special conditions imposed?"*, and that is not, I'd imagine, what's happening here ... if you start answering "yes" to that question you'll enter a whole new world of pain.

* Most on-line quotes have it as a condition of providing an on-line quote, so they don't ask it specficially.

Dear monos, a secret truth.

greenlight are useless, they wont insure most of the cars you would ever want to own, so if you decide to change vehicles mid term your likely to have to get a refund and lose any noclamis that you would have gained so far that year.

IMO your better off paying the small extra for Noel Dazely.

Thanks guys, spoke with them this morning and the claim still hasn't been settled, they didn't seem to know that I had been payed compensation by the other side which suggests they accept liability so im waiting for a call back on this.

Cheers
John

A bit of an update, just spoke with Highway the actual insurance company to get an update and it seems from their end the claim is closed and the other side accepted full liability!
Called Greenlight back and explained this, they said that on their system its still shown as open so they will make enquiries and call be back.
