Opinions on 6x9 speakers - which ones are better? #657345

Just a quick one really. I have sony xplod 6x9's in the Coupe, hidden away, where the original speakers used to sit. I'm quite happy with them. Certainly better volume and quality than the standard speakers.

Went to fit 6x9's in a similar hidden way in the Bravo. Bought Ministry of Sound 6x9's from Argos, as they don't do the Sony ones anymore. After a pig of a job getting the Bravo rear panels off, fitting the speakers so they are hidden, removing the card lining from the panels, so that the sound isn't deadened by the panels, and refitting the panels. My conclusion is these speakers are rubbish.

They are not as loud as the standard rear shelf speakers, their bass response is better though, but top end is pretty poor. In any case, completely different to the effect I got from replacing the standard rear speakers on the Coupe, with the Sony xplods.

As the MOS speakers were cheap, and as I now know how to remove the rear panels on the Bravo quite easily, I've no issue with trying again.

Any advice based on experience of 6x9's, in terms of their loudness at low volume, and quality would be much appreciated.

Indeed. Don't bother. They're pretty poor.

A decent set of components will always sound better than 6x9's.

i have allway used vibe or infinty thoughout my cars. I find if you want clear crisp sound infinty all the way. they are not cheap a good set will set up back around 60-90 pound but worth every penny i have some in my rear quaters in my coupe the sound is so much better also you can use a small amp and just run hpf high and lpf low and you will get great vocal and bass. vibe are also good and better for the bass range. it all depends how any speaker is fitted aswell if 6x9s are placed in a open area you will not get full range power like you wouldnt if you fitted a sub to a helf rather then a box so plenty of sound proffing behind the speaker helps sound quailty and when fitting them to a shelf make a mdf one the sound is so much better and last of all DONT TAKE ANY NOTICE OF CHEAP PEAKERS THAT SAY 300Watt they are half that . hope this helps

Infinity kappa 6 by 9's are the best and sound better than a lot of components, helped by the fact that they have their own crossovers...

Also the old JBL limited edition 6 by 9's, I think they are T series ones are amazing quality...

never buy anything audio wise from argos, even the sony xplod stuff isn't that good really...

Have a hunt on ebay tbh, you'll be surprised what you may unearth...

dls, focal, rockford fosgate, mb quart are all good brands...

I had mb quarts in my old coupe. Lovely sound, needed an amp to power the front / rears though.

JBL, GTO's are cheap and cheerful, but are good for the money!

For 6x9's you won't get a better bargain than these... at that price they are an absolute steal!!!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fusion-FPS-692-Pow...Q2em118Q2el1247

they are an old model, but the sound is awesome... the highs and midrange are crystal clear, loads better than any infinitys!

if your after a nice neutral sound i'd go for these in the rear... a small sub and a GOOD set of components up front... just like me! \:P
Got polk audio componets, run by jbl amp! sounds awesome....!!
