My experience of them has been pretty poor. Reasonably grippy but life span not great.

I used the Toyo's and now have Falken FK-452's.
The Falkens grip better and last longer. Mine are about half worn after 7,000 miles. The Toyo's were shot at 10,000
Some of the earlier Falken tyres are not so good so make sure they are the FK-452's

I like Falken 452's alot, i find they are more progressive on the limit than the Toyos.

I have never had any others to compare them with, but I get wheelspin when full boost hits in lower gears, and mine are wearing faster on the inside. Could be a sign my tracking needs doing, rather than bad tyres though Ross had them on his coop and hated them IIRC

I agree, I prefer my current FK452's over the Toyo T1R's I had before. These Falkens are excellent for the money.

I actually found I got better grip with the Proxes, but the FK452 tyres lasted longer.

I've got Falken FK-452s fitted and I'm very happy with them. Lots of other coupe owners on here have them too. They're extremely grippy and seem to be wear very well Cool. thanks to this thread i have decided to go with these, cheaper than the pair of P6000's they are replacing. £58.50 each fitted plus Vat which seems fair. just need to hope the jack and bits are in the boot and the spare is ok and not gone flat (am ashamed to say i forgot to check when buying this car that the bits where there and have never checked the spair for air since buying it 1 year ago)

If you are swapping P6000's for the Falkens you should notice a massive improvement in grip.

unfortunatly i just picked my car up......
apparently Falkens were out of stock but they gave me a better tyre for "no extra charge" i cant help but feel there is a smell which comes from the rear end of a bull coming from somewhere.
these are made by Kumho who i have never heard of.
have i been ripped off?

If they've fitted your coop with the Kumhos Ecsta STP KU31 you can rest assured that you have one of the best road tires your money can buy!!!

They are the ones Nelson mate, that is a relief, were only £130 for the pair fitted.
so, if they are so good (blackcircles rated them high as well) how come when i searched the forum there were hardly any hits?
seems odd.
cheers
M.

Seem to be positioned mid way between economy and performance tyre from their own presentation. See here.

so, if they are so good (blackcircles rated them high as well) how come when i searched the forum there were hardly any hits? M. Hi Mike, The fact that you don't see many coop owners using them doesn't mean that they aren't great tires! I think when it comes to it, it's a matter of taste and price. You've done a great deal. The Kumho's ECSTA are a more expensive tyre than the more used Falkens and Toyos, so I think it's normal many mates using them because they have a great price/performance value. But if you aim to performance (no matter the cost), then the ESCTA are IMHO better tires than both I've mentioned above. One friend of mine as a turbo Golf GTi MKI and I've already drove his car with both Toyos T1r and ESCTA (the ones his driving now), and I can say that I've noticed some grip improvements since he fitted the Kumhos. Just to tell you that you don't always need to use what everybody uses (and I don't mean "go against what other mates are saying", because I think this forum is a great source of true knowledge and info sharing from all the members of this exceptional community), I'm sharing my tyre preferences with you: I've already paid for a set of Vredestein 215/40 z2 17 Ultrac Sessanta tires, which I expect to try in my coop on the early days of October. I'm very trilled about this because I had a great experience with them a couple of months ago when driving a 280hp M3 E30 evo. Sorry for the long post. Cheers and happy ride with your Kumhos

ZE-912 are replacement for ZE 512. Though they are complete opposites. Where ZE-512 was intended to focus on handling and grip, the ZE 912 forte is on ride and noise. cheers Rui
