I WANT F40
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Seriously. NO. Do a search, and lose the idea right now! They are cowboys, who take your money for a pile of turd.

Have a look at the Helix Organic if you want a decent clutch. Check the group buy section.

Sideways a LOT

I bought a techniclutch once.

Never again. It started slipping after a week.

This was a Rover though not a coupe.

They are basically a standard clutch with a red cover, and not very good ones at that.

If you google "techniclutch problems" - you'll get even more

Basically, the forums that are now finding out about Techniclutch's poor goods and service are:

PuntoSports
Lancer register
GTR.co.uk
Skyline owners clb
RS owners club
UK-mkivs (Golfs etc)
mg-rover
fiatforum
briskoda
scoobynet
passionford
106rallye
manta owners club
vwaudiforum
fordownersclub
imoc
rs-mania
midlandslotus
205gtidrivers

gave up after 5 pages

Admittedly, there were quite a few links to forum threads where the ACTUAL text was "no problems", so I haven't included these.

It would all go towards proving the theory that Techniclutches are in fact standard pattern clutches, with a red coverplate (red powder coating is obviously good for another 100lb-ft torque capacity doncha know )

OK point taken. I have two engines in bits at the moment and thinking about making the clutch bullet proof while it is all out. I have GTA with uprated walkers organic cover plate on already and did experience a tiny bit of slip for a couple of weeks then stopped slipping. Not sure why or how that happened but worried about building car back up only to find I have a slipping clutch.

Running that sort of power wouldn't trouble a standard clutch in any case (making assumptions about the torque you'll be making).

Stevo - if you are on the dge of slip with a Walkers / GTA combo, you only have two realistic options

1) Retain the Walkers coverplate and go for a Helix Organic friction plate
2) Go for a full Helix organic clutch

I ran with the Walkers/Helix combo for 50,000 miles running 1.6 bar and 340lb-ft before it finally started slipping. I now have the full Helix clutch kit fitted, and its not slipping, even with 400 lb-ft (waaay above the capacity quoted by Helix , but they obviously err on the side of caution)

I don't run a paddle either - I need something that is driveable on stop-start traffic, and the paddle was just too on/off for me.

did you have a paddle fitted on your car Nigel, or if it was somebody elses how many miles were on the clutch? When I first got my car it was very on/off but the clutch was only a couple of thousand miles old. after 3k more miles it was much smoother and easier to use IMO!

Nope - never had a paddle fitted to mine

To be honest, I can't understand why people need a paddle clutch

I'm producing more power and more torque than all but about three or four UK cars and I'm happily running a normal type clutch. Last Helix Organic did over 50,000 miles, including two TOTB events and at least 30 full throttle drag starts at Santa Pod
