Hi Folks,

Got a call from my Bro who bought my Coupe a while back, Car Alarm Fob seems to not be working today, red light goes on but it does not unlock doors \ disable Immobiliser.

Anyway he has unlocked the car door with key and alarm has gone off, car will not start.

Does he need Red key to turn off alarm

Cheers

Earlsie

looks like the fob battery is duff, get a new one, and in the mean time, get as close to the steering wheel area with the fob as you can, see if that works

The imobilser chip is in the key on Fiats so the antnea in the steering column may had lost its connection. The alarm is completely separate and to linked with the imobiliser.

Does the code light come on?

First thing to do it to disconnect the battery for 30 mins, that often sorts things.

Cheers Guys,

I brought down his second Fob which has done the trick, battery was pretty dead but seems to be working now, one of his fobs has stopped working now, code light come on but does nothing.

Does this need to be reprogrammed or possibly its broken, may need to be replaced.

Cheers

Earlsie

Be careful with the terminology here: when you say "Code light" do you mean the one in the dashboard/instrument panel?

The light on the fob turns Red but car does not respond, central locking does not open, If I manually open the car with key alarm goes off and car will not turn over.

Yes, does your interior light still work? If not then there's a 10A fuse in the fuse box that you might want to check.
