hey guys,
i fitted the breather modification to my car today and since then have had a loud chirp when coming off throttle!
is this the norm?
i am running a sip and cone filter without any dump valve, the flutter sound is still there but the chirp has joined it! is this just crankcase pressure releasing? or is there something very wrong?

cheers Dan.

It doesnt sound right to me, I have the breather mod and if I disconnect the d/v I get the flutter but no chirp. You could try putting a d/v back on now and see if both noises disappear together, might narrow it down a bit?

Yea i might give that a go, bit worried tho as the sound is loud. ive been runnig without any dump valve now for about 10 months without any issues. i prefer the flutter sound over my baileys dv. perhaps you cant here the noise because the dump valve sounds simular/overpowers it? or maybe my engine is about to go pop!

Haha I'm not alone!

I've gotten used to it now, it's kinda funny \:\) I thought it sounded a bit like a turkey so I started calling the car 'The Gobbler' but it didn't stick...

not sure if im gonna keep it on, sounds like the car has the flu!

I'll be there Ridan and you're welcome to compare turkeys :s.

It's been making the noise for over a month now, I like it \:\) . When I had it mapped at FC Performance, Leighton and Dave said all they can think of that could cause it, is an obstruction in there somewhere, but I know of nothing that could have moved or fallen in. I reckon it's just resonating. Roger's had a look as he thought it was unusual (though later he said it was quite common ) but he said it's all fitted correctly and nothing is wrong with it.

If it turns ou to be the same, then I certainly wouldn't worry.

p.s. if you're coming to the meet, then say so on the thread because we have a PM going

Maybe it's down to the type of SIP you have?

My SIP is just a straight bit of pipe with a DV attachment on it, with a 3" silicon hose tapering to the turbo. The other two small pipes (ebv and fuel vapour) pop into a hole in the silicon hose.

I also get a loud screaming induction noise which, come to think of it, could be the air rushing past this protrusion

Well I have a Pro Alloy tapered job. I'm not 100% sure but I'd think that most fccukers with Pro Alloy systems would be running a non-tapered SIP with a GT turbo? What do you have R1dan? (no fmic I'm guessing)

How would you run a SIP with no FMIC?

My GT28R has the same size inlet as a standard turbo / GTIR. I think it's the GT28RS that has a 3" inlet. You can use either type of SIP with the GT28R, as you can bolt a 3" adapter to the turbo.
