Has anybody tried using this lot?

I did an on-line valuation for my car, which is not MOT'd and not taxed, and they came back and offered £1,000 for it - which is about what I expected to get even if I got it through its MOT.

The downside is that I'd have to arrange to have it transported to them, as they don't do a collection service, and I'd imagine that they'll try to haggle me down when I get there, but given coop values at the moment even £700 for it wouldn't seem too bad.

So - anybody used them? Anything I should watch out for?

A friends dad used them to sell his Vauxhall Astra Convertible. The car was a nail, I'd have been suprised if he'd have got £2500 privately, amazingly though, I think they gave him £4000 for it, no idea how (it had some bad boy bodykit on it, and a cracked bumper with operspray on the rear lights where he'd tried to fix it with a spray can!)

Sold my Volvo S40 T5 to these guys about 4 months ago, it's quick and painless, but didn't get the market value for the car (been trying to sell for a couple of months so went down this route).

Only downsides, when they offer you a price (and its acceptible), take it streight away and don't let the time limit expire - when it does they "re-value the car" and give you a lot less. When you get to the valuation place (they will value your car before parting with the cash) they WILL give you less than the evaluation... probably not by much, but it will go down.

But if you want to sell you car quickly, go for it.

depends on the car I guess - my mother asked me to dispose of her Astra for her.

P reg - 40,000 miles - she's owned it from new - full service history. Bit rusty on the arches, but otherwise very good.

I got £600 through the local free paper, but WeBuyAnyCar offered me £75

I put my coupe details on there. It came out with £1110

I don't think I will bother.

I've just requested a quote for an 02 V70 with 26k miles, full dealer SH and pretty well immaculate. The site told me the car was worth between 4.6 and 5.6k. Asked for a firm offer - £3010. FCCUK RIGHT OFF springs to mind.

In fairness, a site offering a service like that was hardly likely to be offering top-dollar retail money for unseen second-hand cars.

No need. I didn't expect a top dollar quote, but I did kind of think it would be within the price band THEY quoted. Not over a grand less than their lowest valuation

Its only useful if you've explored all other avenues of selling your car, mine had been sitting on my drive and cost me 2-3 months worth of advertising with not a single call, even though I'd dropped the asking price to what this site was willing to give me... in the end I bit the bullet and made a 3k loss (was given 6k for the car, price guide said around 9-9.5k). So don't go into this thinking you'll get a good deal, they get the good deal in the end, car salesmen always do

I was tring to sell my Volvo over the "your road tax is gonna cost you lots more money for big cars" frighetening news that was being broadcast at the time though, so I think most people were not thinking about buying a 2.6 turbo... guess that's why I lost out.

Just filled in details for the Skoda I'm trying to sell (been on AT for 3 weeks, but not one call, it's very well priced and in good condition. Need to get it shifted as the last month of coverage as a temporary vehicle is up at the end of the month).

Tried bestcarbuyer and their quote was around 50% less than what it is on the AT for (which in itself is at least £250-£500 less than other similar cars in the same area). Think I'll ring around some garages before contemplating going to them.

do your checking around quickly though, if you're out of the time limit that they give you they will "reqote" and it will be a lower quote. they dropped mine down £1k in a week!

TBH, I'm not going to sell it to them at the price they offered or the price they came back to me with.

Hopefully I might have a seller lined up anyway, phone call on Sunday, he came to look and drive last night, offered me a good price pending coming back later in the week when it was dry just to check the paint condition etc. - it was raining so hard last night you couldn't make a judgement on it. Fingers crossed.

Well I'd imagine WeBuyAnyCar.com are millionaires by now - after declining their kind offer of £50 for my Mk1 MR2, I advertised it for a grand, and promtly sold it to the first bidder!

Result, that means the net spend on my Coupe Turbo is a magical -£50!! Giving me lots of money to spend on it and make it perfect.
