Well, I have seen this asked before but I can't find it, I have come across and brought a Greddy "telltale" EGT gauge and controller, it has a warning buzzer when a user defined temp is exceeded.

Where should I set this - around 900c (1700F) or is this too high - when do things start going south on OE pistons (it's a 16VT BTW)

Whats the ideal target range?

Thanks

Where did you put the sensor - before or after the turbo? Before - 800c is critical, after - 600.

I'm guessing he's put it in the collector on the manifold?

900c was my limit.........before my pistons went laugh you had to push it pretty hard to get it that high though!

yes, its in the collector just before the turbo inlet.

so i guess 900c is a bit hot then eldinho.

Thanks MichaelZ, i did a google and HKS say a generic 1550f which is about 840c but is his a bit hot for a coupe 16vt engine
