Is it just me or are people panicking over selling their coupes

From what I've seen over the past coupe of weeks the coupe value is dropping faster then a lead brick, the car sales sites that I constantly follow show it's mainly this forum where the prices are the lowest.

Yes I know we keep hearing that we're heading for a recession but that doesn't mean we should give these cars away, Solo haven't dropping their prices and they sell more coupes then anybody else in the country, so why are people so desperate?

Thing is give it a couple of years and the nice coupes that are left will be worth a tidy sum, well hopefully

it's a bit like shares isn't it? the time to sell is before they drop....not after!

She's already had oil cooler/pipes, all suspension components, radiator and clutch in the last two years - should be good for another few years, by which time it will be even rarer!

I know what you mean but the prices on this forum are pushing the value far below what they are really worth IMO.

with the new car tax, i would say a coupe is a good buy. people with newer slower cars will be paying around £400, while the coop stays at around £200.

Another good reason to keep a coupe

At these prices if i had the money i`d buy another coop and just moth-ball it.

Wishin' I was buying mine now instead of back in may. Prob could have picked it up about a grand cheaper the ways things are going. Don't sell yourselves short guys!!

i think a lot of people on here at taking the sensible option, the coupe to a lot of people in here is a second car and a luxury.
if you have the cash and the stability its a great time to get a coupe!
ultimately i don't think the coupe is any more expensive than any other car of its status.
if its your only car then i don't think there is any real need to get shot... if its a luxury you don't need, and cant afford....there is no point getting ur self in to debt about it

i can tell you that the grass is not greener on the other side (from personal experience) and if it was me i would take heed of warnings and if you can, keep them because i can see there prices shooting right up again

im hoping i get a chance at getting a coupe at these silly prices in the next few months, ill be quids in i think!

to conclude, this isn't a localised fiat coupe issue the hole car market is in trouble, especially performance cars. there just a cost not many people can justify these days

Am I the only one that fails to understand people's worry about the high cost of car taxes? If you have a car that's going to cost £400 to tax rather than £200, what's that really in comparison to what it's going to cost you to put petrol in the thing for a year?

1 year ago today, i had my 1st silver 20v, i payed 1100 for it and it wasnt at all tidy. it took me ages to find it as every one i called about the add had already sold

I have probably spent what mine is worth (Inc. insurance) this year already, not including the credit card bill which I used to pay for the brakes this month. (I can pay it but the bills not arrived yet )
But I don't think there is anything mechanically wrong now (except lower suspension bits have maybe 6-9 months life in them)
So its body work save up for time

Mrs CC and I went for a buffet Chinese last night in Worcester and TBH I've never seen the town so busy on a Friday evening, we even had to wait for a table which is very unusual as it seats over 200 customers.

The media is talking us into this recession. Very very different to last time.

thats why im looking for a coupe next month or so ,for £1000 i can get a coupue,there on here,ebay(try and avoid)or pistonhead for that price so nows the time to buy not sell,if my insurance was an issue id buy the 16v like porkypauls selling but for me its only a few quid more on insurance for a turbo

When i was at the Nurburgring earlier in the year there was a yellow lamborghini. 2 english lads were in it and they had stikers in the window with "driver-Joey Deacon" and "navigator-forest gimp". I had to explain to my mates who joey deacon was!

The Coop is no doubt a good buy at the moment.

I was considering a newer, smaller car, but did some maths and it didn't work out!

The coop is shite on fuel, admittedly, however, it's cheap to buy and to be fair, cheap to maintain. People my disagree with that bit, but, you take a newish car of any type into a garage for work and you'll appreciate that if you can do the basics on your car (and on newer cars, it's hard even to do the basics!) then as there are so many spares about with people breaking their coops then it's all relative!

You can buy a coop (and there are a few on here at the moment) that has had all the big jobs done for peanuts, for that money you get a very quick and stylish and, increasingly unique car that needs no major work for a long time, so long as you keep on top of things.

Petrol wise, it's like this! You buy a newer car that can do 50 mpg for example, great! But, again, it's all relative, fuel is expensive, the coop drinks it, however, taking depreciation and keeping the newer car dealer serviced etc, it all evens out over a year.

Some people spend a fortune on a quick newer car, and lose as much in a years depreciation as I paid for my coop! Year two's depreciation then pays for the fuel consumption difference and some sensible (reliability!) mods.

So, keep your Coops! Small fuel efficient cars are great, but false economy unless you by an older one, oh, and you'll look a bit of a tart in it, people will think you are a friend of Dorothy, old and smelling of pee, or just a very sad boring bean counter with no life!

It's not a hard choice is it, stick with it, you know it makes sense!

Oh, and if you can get your hands on a mint and original 16VT or 20VT at these prices do it, then leave it alone, my bet is it will be a sound investment if you have somewhere to keep it! (But let me have first dibs on the 16VT!)
