Is it just me or is the system worse than the regular system on the 16 valve models?

On those you set the air temperature to the desired level and leave it there, the air bening blown out is roughly a constant temperature.

On the 20V the system tries to get the car to the correct temperature and keep it there. So for arguments sake you set it to 22ºC, it blows full hot until it gets there and then starts blowing cold. So at first you feel hot then cold even though you haven't touched the temp dial.

This happens with the fan on Auto or on other speeds.

A good old fashioned air temperature dial is far better IMO.

What do you guys reckon?

I find that
ill have it set to 30 and it will be blowing cold air slowly but set it one above on high and its blowing hot air fast!

Set mine to 20 or 21 and it's very comfortable. \:D

I find that strangely the coolant level has alot to do with it, make sure it's topped up,

I also notice on a day like today, it will blast out hot air until it's warmed up then change to a constant temp which feels colder, but only because it had been on full heat and you get used to it,

If you put your hand near the vents you find it still kicks out lukewarm air at say 21 on the dial.

As far as I've read the fan that senses the temperature in the cabin can get clogged which can cause a misreading, there is also a sensor in the drivers door mirror, but I don't know what the effect of that not working would do.

The drivers mirror sensor is there to protect the AC. It stops the system functioning at 5 degrees or below.

Cleasn the inside small fan with a long soft paint brish, like the ones you use to gloss your woodwork.

I thik you hit the nail on the head when you said it kicks out hot air, and then switches to warm which feels cooler.

Why can it not be switched to just give a constant temp of air, like it did on the 16 valve cars?

I find myself constantly twiddling with the temp dial on my car.

I have plenty of coolant BTW. \:D

Why not just set the dial to between hot and cold and turn off auto i.e put the fan speed on say 2?, that should maintain the temperature. It's in manual mode then.

I have tried that and it doesn't work... I think the auto is just for the fan speed.

It still goes from hot to cool as it warms up.
