Stopped behind a car at a zebra crossing 2 cars stopped behind me then Bang, Bang, Crunch!

I was pushed into the car in front so now have a fccuked front and back end.

This was in a 30 mph limit - I think they must have been doing more than that to do the damage to the four cars in front.

I asked a panel beater who is a mate and he says it will definately be a write off.

I am gutted, i spent nearly 1 1/2 years looking for my car and travelled to Scotland to get it(W reg Energy green '6')

What do you think I will be offered and should I buy it back and do it up or look for a new Coupe - After nearly 4 years ownership I'm not ready to leave the fold just yet!

I will post photos over the weekend.

Wads

Have a look in the styling section. more thane one person who would not give up there beloved have had them restored.

I nearly ended up the same way in the summer. Scared the hell out of the car in front. I didn't brake as I entered a 50 zone thinking the people braking were just slowing for it and all too close.
Realising that one was turning right I braked hard (man those are good brakes) and spotted the van behind me could not stop. Had to get so close to the car in front and pray.

Take faith

Ahh jeez...sounds like exactly what happened to me. Except I was at the back of the queue and took the full force \:\(

You can restore it, check out my thread for some inspiration: http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=522893&fpart=1 . However your heart will definately have to rule your head, for you to go down the repair route, if the damage is half as bad as mine was.

Good luck

It happened in Brough.

I'm just a little concerned that I'll get offered next to nothing judging by what the price guides say.

I paid just over £6k when I bough it with 37k on the clock, now showing 90k approx.

I know I'll be hard pressed to get another in the same colour but maybe its time for an electric blue plus.

The only thing is when you get a new car you never know how its been treated - Mines never missed a beat in 4 years.

Looks pretty similar to mine, I'm a bit concerned about a kink in the rear 3/4 panel same location as the fuel cap but on the opposite side.

Did it end up costing you much more to get yours repaired than it would to get another (if there was one for sale)

Thanks for all the support guys (and girl)

If nothing else I want a coupe so I can lurk on the forum - I have been addicted to it for 5 years and need a daily fix.

When I saw it i thought it deserved a better life in ...er...Hull.

When we got flooded last year i walked home for a mile bare foot through knee deep water to avoid getting it wet!

'If we can't get them out, we'll (breed) buy them out'.

Who are you insured with? Mine was a mint LE with 50k on the clock and I was offered £3900. After a lot of dicking about I got £5750 which would have bought me a decent LE or Plus.

However I just couldn't let my LE go. I've owned it 5yrs and it seemed like such a waste of a car. So I bought it off the ins co. and fixed it myself. I'm about £3k out of pocket with a Cat C coupe that's probably worth bugger all \:D but I'll probably keep it forever.

If I were sensible I'd have had my LE scrapped and just bought another one.

Do you live in Hull Wads? I've seen 2 green coops here, think you might have been one of them...

When the floods came my coop was sat on a little dry island all on its own, someone up there liked me that day...lol \:D

Really sorry to hear about the shunt, Wads \:\( I think Cappo on here had his car restored after a shunt. Carlt did the work if I remember correctly. It might be an idea to pm Cappo and get some advice.

Shame carlt doesn't come on here anymore. He could probably take 1 look at some pics and tell straight away if it's a right off or what the rough repair cost would be.

Finally got my cheque through from the insurers.

£2,750

Do you think this is reasonable for a 2000 'W' reg 20vt-6 in energy green (don't know if this has any bearing but I've only seen 1 other coupe for sale in this colour over my 4 years ownership).

If I want to challenge the value how do I go about it?

What figure do you think is realistic valuation to replace like for like?

If you've received a cheque then this must mean you've agreed to the payout value, no?

If you cash it you will, you just need to get prices off autotrader/piston heads for cars in a similar condition/price and then go back to the insurers.

No, I haven't agreed it the cheque came out of the blue.

Looking at similar specced cars on the net and they seem to be at least £1.5k more than the £2,750 I have been offered.

Well you have really just answered your own question mate....

Get copies/details of those coops you have seen and get on to the insurance. If that cheque is in addition to you getting to keep your car it might not be too bad, but im no expert.

I would accept £4000, no less.
You can point out the two currently on autotrader (£3800 and £4000), if yours has done less miles you can use that as a bargaining tool and then, as you say, you can point out that yours is rarer than most (I too can't remember more than a handful of Energy Green 20VT(6)'s coming up for sale in the last six years!)

You need to push for more.
