I had my car in with Leighton today (been waiting for a live map for months smile )
I arrived there about 9:20, had a good chat and talk about what i want from the car and any problems. Me and my mate then left the car with him.
We walked for quite afew miles (probably 30-40 smile ) to kill the time. Got a nice phone call about 11 telling me that he has been out in the car and its running too rich when coming on boost and through most the rev range. He then said he is going to start mapping smile
About 2pm got another call saying igition advance and the fueling was all done and it was running well (thank god, clutch didn't slip), he only had afew tweaks to do to off boost performance.
It was all ready and done for 3pm, had another good chat about my car, he said its quick and my exhaust is loud (my ears are still ringing from the 4 hour return trip).
The drive home was abit boring due to awful traffic, but near mine i had a nice quick blast and its like a different car. The weather was quite bad so no traction in 2nd but 3rd gear is amazing, it just pulls and pulls (never felt it pull so well) and i didn't even have it on the highest boost smile. Off boost is better too and its alot better on motorways as it will accelerate in 5th like it used to do in 3rd.

I am well chuffed with my car and how nice and helpful Leighton was. Very very nice chap and he knows alot about the coops. If anyone is thinking of mapping then i would very highly recommend FC Performance.

Just one thing Leighton, my idle is abit high now, alot of the time it sounds above 1000 rpm, its no harm i will get used to it. If i can get over when your at powerstation, perhaps you could drop it abit.

Thanks very very much for mapping my car Leighton, i wouldn't trust anyone else and its made the car fantastic.

Ash

Sounds good.

What's impressed me the most though is that you managed to 30 - 40 miles in the space of a few hours. laugh

I would recommend it Benny, as i know your running the ti chip. It does go very well, but don't think i will beat your 360bhp smile
The car drives alot better with a proper map then the gtec chip (even though Grahams chips are spot on).

Glad to hear another Fleamap success smile

I noticed you have 319bhp, 273lbft in your sig Ash, is that from a dyno result before or after the map?

Surely you weren't running just a Gtec before on that power?

Yes Trappy thats the power before the live map on just a gtec 2.
Its alot faster now so its going on the rollers in january, I think the torque will be well over 300ibft. When you get the turbo spinning well it flies, but not had a good go in it yet due to the bad weather.
Matt its a shame you had to sell as Leighton's touch makes all the difference.

True, but Trappy sounded like he didnt think it was possible to run a gtec safely with that much power. wink

I know it's possible, just pretty unlikely. Very lucky if the fuelling is still good though cool

Until you get it mapped and have the timing advanced a bit more aggresively, it still won't be at its best though.

Power and torque should be much imroved though. Make sure you post up before and after graphs smile

im curious how this live mapping works. afaik, the coop ECU is not programmable? do they write the program to a chip and then swap the chip?

if so, wont it take a lot of trial and error to get it right with many chips to be written?

they use a chip emulator - essentially a laptop acts as the chip, with the ability to change small sections of the maps.

Once the maps are correct, a chip is burned and fitted

Yes i am still running Kenno's gt28rsr (great turbo). My car seems to run lower advance then most but still made the power but was low on torque. Now Leighton has tweaked the advance i have a torque increase and now the fueling is spot on.
With the gtec2 it would go very rich (10.2 - 1) then leaned off to 12 near read line.
Now after the map its a nice steady 11.5/11.8

Once i have it on the rollers in January i will put up the before and after graphs.

Ash

Been so busy I haven't had time to chip in on this one! Have to say Ash has a fast coupe, it comes in quick and pulls hard all the way smile It was running safe but too much fuel on wot although a little lean on part throttle boost. Will be good to see it on the rollers at powerstation in January wink

Thanks Leighton, cars running spot on. With this bad weather i am struggling to get grip in 3rd at 1.1 bar smile i got a nice torque increase after the mapping. I did manage one time at 1.32 bar and what a huge difference.
I have been on the phone to powerstation today and will update the other post. Looking foward to seeing yours on the rollers (thats if you don;t break them smile )

Ash
