I get the carbon fibre plates for the widget made by these guys: http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/ and very friendly they are too...

In conversation this afternoon, the subject of CF bonnets came up. Without a detailed examination, prices are of course estimates, but the general cost would be around twelve hundred quid, half of which is the original mould cost. That means that if ten people were to desire bonnets, the mould cost would be spread out and the price would be around six-seven hundred quid.

Now... I don't know if this is a good price or not. I don't want one myself. I certainly don't want to get wrapped up in a group buy... but if anyone *is* interested, they might find it profitable to talk to Stephen Walton on 01642 713 129.

I would definitely have one for £700! A new metal bonnet is £712 with vat. You can get the local spray shop to get it for you at about £600 but i would go carbon for the extra £100.

Just got an email from Hansell and they think he may have underestimated the price, so maybe this goes nowhere...

I'm sure most would buy it for cosmetic reasons but how much weight would you lose by buying one of these?

Sorry but what about AutoDS? They already have a fully developed fibreglass bonnet which is half the weight of the metal bonnet and is priced at £660. OK delivery will be a fair bit I would expect but even so its a proven product from a reliable supplier.

Thanks a lot mate, but price for the some group buy order will be better.. I can do discount about 20%, so pice 529 GBP. Shipping cost for 5 bonnets to UK in one package.. about 200 GBP (40 GBP for one bonnet), so 569 GBP for one bonnet delivered.

I thought your bonnet was GRP not Carbon Fibre ?

GRP bonnet. Weight about 13-14kg or with better construction about 11kg (+30 GPB).
