Hi all

Last night someone tried to break in to my Coupe! They did not get in but broke the barrel on the passengers side and left the window trim hanging off. The problem is the alarm did not go off! I've tried it and the hazards flash but no siren. (I'm guessing the two horns in the front left of the engine bay are for the alarm)?

Any ideas what the problem might be, I want to sort it tonight if possible.

Thanks in advance

Sorry to hear about that.

The two horns are only for the horn of the car I'm afraid. The alarm itself does have a seperate siren, but it often fails.

Do you have a small key with the car (looks a bit like a filing cabinet key)?
It could be the siren has been disabled by using that key. Depending on age/type of alarm the switch is either in the glovebox or on the alarm module itself. In the case of a Scorpion alarm the module with siren unit tends to be at the front passenger side of the engine compartment, black plastic box with a rubber cover over the switch which you flip up to reveal the switch.

Did the car come with any alarm documents?

Sadly no documents regarding the alarm. The windows have the scorpion alarm sticker so it's a fairly safe bet that's it. There is a blank in the glove-box so it must be in the engine bay, I'll go look now

Great!!! Thank you!!!

Found the unit in the front left passenger side and turned the key. Low and behold, the alarm beeps when I lock it, and if I unlock the door with the key and try to start it the alarm goes off. One question though, I have two buttons on the fob - the left one locks/unlocks but when I press the right one the alarm sounds! This doesn't seem right?

I did think that when I switched it back on but it meant I could put down the crowbar and go to sleep lol. There's only been one false alarm so far so not too bad.
