Alarm remote not working #739754

I have a standard alarm on my 20VT (rectangular black fob with three lines of rubber protruding from slots on the front as the button. Think this might be a Meta device after seeing the Abacus Alarms site.

The car battery died over Christmas and after a jump the alarm / central locking would not work from the fob. I can unlock the car with the key but this sets off the alarm. When unlocking with the key the central locking works.

If the fob is working but out of synch with the alarm unit, would the central locking still work remotely? Because neither central locking nor alarm are disarming, is this an issue with the fob and not the alarm?

What batteries does the fob take and how many?

Help!

If it's a meta it has met stamped on the remote. Change the batteries first, CR1220 and there are two of them.

Then you need to do a convoluted sequence of opening and closing both doors with the keys whilst trying the fobs.

Try locking both doors with the key, then try the fob to unlock them. Or unlock both with the key and try the fob. If out of sequence try locking one door with the key and unlocking the passenger door with the key. Then try the fob then lock both doors with the key and try the fob again.

Rinse and repeat in various permitations until it works as intended.
