In the driving seat!
I want to replace the standard radio cassette with a standard radio cd player with perhaps a SD card slot. Can anyone recpmmend a reasonably cheap one with an orange display? Thanks
Ned

What is your price range?

Alpine is probably the best in most price ranges.

This is the one I have.

I bought an 8 Gb USB memory stick to go with it which holds over 100 albums in MP3/WMA format.

I would certainly recommend it, it is excellent for the money.

Taking Bockers' advice I bought this alpine for just over £100 + the ipod cable.

The sound quality is FAR better than the standard unit \:\)

Well done. The standard speakers in the coupe (esp the rears) are quite bad but can sound quite good with a decent head unit. the standard Clarions are just awful, i did not realise just how awful until I replaced it either \:D

Thanks Gunzi but I am looking for one with amber illumination. I don't listen to ICE that much but would like to occasionally.

Also taking bockers advice I have one of these which sounds fantastic. Obviously a bit more expensive than £80. I'm told Blaupunkt are good at that price.

I got an ipod kit for the Alpine as well, not sure if that was really worth it. You can change the green illumination on this to amber, and its not a bad match at all. Might be the same on the one Gunzi has.

I also picked up some less than 1/2 price Pioneer 6x9's in halfrauds just after xmas, and the difference they made compared to the standard rear speaker is amazing. Well worth it.

1. Think of something witty and urbane
2. Imagine it written here

My new coop has this fitted, I was going to replace it with my Blaupunkt but to be honest, it sounds really good and the USB socket is ideal, saves me taking my iPod and charger everywhere, the 8MB Memory Stick I use just clips to my key ring.

So yes, good sound and they are quite cheap new. Radio reception and sound quality of broadcasts is not as good as my Blaupunkt though.

I got this in the end, the backlight colour matches well, it suits my needs, was easy to fit and wasn't expensive. Sounds good as well!
