Thinking about upgrading rear brakes to larger discs and brembo setup.... chinny
Is this a realistic idea and any suggestions anybody?

Not realistic no. Apart from being questionable about the need for it you will still need a mechanical handbrake setup. So you either need a second caliper or to convert it to a subaru/evo style setup where they use a brake shoe. Either way it's not straight forward and not worth doing.

There are brake upgrades available - Suba developed one and Tarox do one. But as I said, if you're thinking about upgrading brakes then concentrate on making sure the standard back setup is in good working order and spend a bit of money at the front.

the rears do very little work, and if you disconnect or disable the ABS, you'll find that the rears will lock up quite easily anyway - on this basis, there's no point in making them any more powerful, as you can't brake any harder

However, if you uprate the front brakes, the rears become relatively less powerful, so can do with a bit of tweaking

Most people have simply uprated the pads - IMHO, the best possible setup using standard calipers is Pagid yellows on DBA4000 discs at the front, and Textar pads (made by Pagid) on standard discs at the rear

Check out the Pagid Group Buy #10 in the Group Buy section

When I first went to look at my car, Joe mentioned that although the braking power probably wasn't improved much he felt the back end became much more stable under braking with the Tarox upgrade. smile I think suba mentioned something along these lines with his too???

But for the price of the kit its questionable whether its value for money!
