I have just bought a new kit for this and discovered that the orange 501 bulbs supplied do not fit, as the car has 233 bayonet type bulbs fitted, which are not available in orange.

How have other people over come this?

Did you contact consumabulb? When I was looking for the amber 233 they didn't have them listed - but they then put them up on the website after I asked for them smile

I have found out that the 233 is also know as a BA9S - apparently....

So these should work:

Ideally, you want a chrome finish bulb that flashes orange otherwise you get the dreaded "fried egg" effect / finish.

I spent ages looking for a chrome one that flashes orange but couldn't find one. As it turns out I don't think the fried egg effect is that apparent smile

Clicky

I would however still get some chrome bulbs if I could find them laugh

Clear lenses are available on ebay or do a google search for Barchetta lenses as they are the same.

Good find that Adam, I'm after the same bulbs, as I've had the clear side repeater lenses for over a year !
So I just orderd some amber LED's . I've used LED's previously on another car, and they didn't fit initially, a little adjustment of the actual LED position helped smile

If the LED version doesn't fit, a standard orange 233 can be lightly coated with silver paint to achieve the desired result.

Don't laugh, it does work, but to many passes with the paint and you won't see it flash lol !

Let us know how you get on with them when they arrive then fellie. If they're okay then I'm going to order some clear lenses and LEDs smile

Problem solved - with a bit of tinkering!

I ordered these from ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LED-BA9S-Car-Bulbs-Sidelights-12V-Blue-White-Amber_W0QQitemZ230294939776QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item230294939776&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

They arrived today so i put them in and, er nothing happened frown Bulbs not working. Got my meter out and discovered that Fiat in their wisdom have made the outside(body)of the bulb + and the pin in the middle - rolleyes

I then had a brainstorm and pulled more cable out of the wing until i got to another connector. I was then able to swap the pins round to reverse the polarity to the bulb holder and i now have flashing clear LED side repeaters love

Well.. long story short, I'll not be dealing with Aceparts again ..

Looking for another source of blubs / LED's, the seller in the Ebay link is listed as being in the next village .. handy laugh

No worries Adam laugh

The ones in the Ebay link may actually give off more light than the 4 naked LED's.

I got some clear side repeaters last year and had the same issue. Managed to get round it by dipping the bulb glass into some glass paint that was orange.

Works a treat.

Anyone else tried this? Was it just to pull out the cable from the connector and switch it around plug-and-play style, do you have to do some of soldering etc?

/Mattias

Super wide angle amber LED bulbs available from these friendly chaps...!

Reversed wires might've been a manufacturing error, mine were fine first time out.
