Its in here peanut

Personally I have Castrol super dot 4, but I reckon I'm gonna switch to ATE super blue at the next change (makes changes easier too as you can see the blue fluid)

Using ATE super blue at the moment. Its been spot on. Great price too. I find Euro carparts the cheapest so far.

I would also recommend using DOT 5.1. I've always found it fairly easy to boil fluid in the coop when driving in anger. Although you will have to change it more often

i was looking at either castrol 5.1 racing fluid or motul fluid.

the 5.1 doesn't really mean its any better its down to the quality to

Super Blue is very popular in the states but Motul RBF600 is a very good fluid, unfortunately people have cottoned on and its become very expensive in the last year.

I use castrol, which is good upto 300c.

Castrol SRF is pretty expensive - £50 for a litre. Sure you'd have to change it frequently too, plus to get the best out of it you'd need to drain all your old stuff out.

i need to do a full fluid change for my 72000 mile service anyway but i would need £100 worth of fluid :-(
i have seen some motul stuff that oilman from opile oil recomended for about £20 a liter.
il get the proper code of the stuff.
on opile the castrol top end fluid wasn't quite that expensive either?

here are the ones i looked at

motul rbf600 dot4
castrol reponse dot 4
silkorlene pro race 2000
these all cost about £30 for a fluid chand

or castrol sfs which would cost about £100 for a fluid change.

what would you guys surgest for should i just get some halford 5.1 dot or standard stuff?

i can't work out if i want to really upgrade my brakes or not :-(

Change the fluid anyway, but it depends on what you're going to do with the car. If it's just driving it from A to B then just use any dot 5.1 fluid. If your going to do lots of track days, then look at other fluid and do some research. Maybe ask the Skyline lot ;\)

If it’s only for use on the road, you’d be better off going for 5.1 and reasonably priced with more frequent changes. On the track it would be possible to boil the fluid, but on the road if that happens then it might be an idea to reduce the rate at which progress is being made.

i think i will just be using it for a road car really so i think normal 5.1 dot is best then.

It's the one fluid I didn't specify (i.e. didn't buy first and supply) to MM when my car was there, just asked for a change to 5.1, it got a proper change though, old fluid blown out with an airline and refilled and bled. Just make sure whoever does it doesn't sloppy with yer Brembo's, I've got marks on mine where some previous owner got fluid spilled down them and stripped the paint off them. To be refurb'd with new seals soon anyway, but if they're mint a little spill looks crap.

is there a way of telling what brake fluid you have without changing the lot? ie bleed them alittle, test it, then top up with the same

You can get a tester to check the boiling temperature of your brake fluid but that`s about it AFAIK.
