As I'll have an RX7 soon and my coupe is not selling for decent money I was thinking about passing the car to my brother...if it's a workable solution then I wont have to start taking bits off my coupe and selling them, I might also be able to drive it on the odd occasion! The catch is that he is 22, and has zero years no claims as he has been a named driver on other policies. I asked if he could be added to my Greenlight policy, and they wont touch him until he's 23 and has a year's no cliams bonus. Adrian Flux wont add him to my policy unless he's 25. My current insurance is going to be transferred to the RX along with 6 years no claims, so the options for me are to take out a new policy on the 20vt (Adrian flux have one that still enables me to keep the no claims bonus on both cars) and try and find somewhere that will have my brother as a named driver, or find somewhere that will insure the car in his name for sensible money. anyone got any ideas?????

I'm thinking down that route now, but if he is after a standard coupe then I think he could always get one in a few years, rather than pay an arm and a leg for mine as it is. Not telling the insurer about the mods is not an option.

I was 21 when I got mine (about 270bhp at the time), and Flux insured me for £1200. Try getting a new quote for him from Flux and they will get one from a different underwriter than the one they are using for you.

Bell/Admiral/Elephant seem to give me the cheapest quotes(I think they all the same companies). At 21 with mods, no no claims and an accident at fault, bell insured me for £960.00 with my mum as a named driver. Worth giving one of those a call, and older women always seem to bring down the policy!

I tried Admiral yesterday for my 300bhp...too many mods they said, after a half hour wasted. ;(
313bhp...GT28R, Pro-Alloy FMIC & SIP, Perfect touch Live Map, Powerfiat Exhaust, Eibach springs.

personally at 22 with that much power he will probably kill himself...thus the high Quotes. Best option like others said would be to take the mods off, sell them(fund the Rx7's new bits :D) then sell the coop as standard. Or then try his insurance again.
