How do people think there coupe steering feels? sometimes i think it feels a bit numb in my car,is there anything that can lead to this or is it just part of the car?The few times i have driven my mates evo2 the steering is just so nice and weighted, you can feel everthing, it really is a peachy part of those cars!

I think the steering is quite responsive in the coop with a good bit of feel and feedback smile Check your tyre pressures

If you want it to feel abit more weighted, try dropping the pressure down a lil bit. I have mine at 37psi as this gave me the feel i want and to reduce the ride harshness of 39psi.

I know this wil sound a bit weird - but try letting go of the steering wheel

OK - not completely, but relax your grip on it

This isn't easy in a Coupe, especially if you have standard leather seats, as the steering wheel simply becomes a grab handle to keep you in the seat.

Try getting hold of a CG lock and strapping yourself in REALLY tightly - you'll then be able to relax your grip on the wheel, and in turn you'll feel MUCH more of what the car is doing

Check the tracking and also think about getting some negative camber - that adds a lot of feel! Apart from great cornering.

One of the main things I noticed in my transition from 16VT to 20VT was the vague steering, something I'm going to have to get used to, it doesn't inspire confidence at all, it's like learning to drive all over again!

They were all like that by the way, not just the one I bought!

I have camber bolts and i might try a bit of toe out soon!

That's interesting Gareth,i have not driven a 16v to compare.
Do you think they gave the steering more assistance because of the heavier engine?

Try using the 16vt tracking settings on the 20vt and see how it feels then.

It will be played with for sure, but I have much more pressing matters to attend to for now, this is a labour of, erm....love (I think!) rolleyes

To be honest, I can live with it for now as I have no plans to go tear arsing around until I've got confidence in the car mechanically, and with me, that takes some time!

i pumped the tyres up to 39 psi on the fronts and it shaperened the steering but i found it a bit light and to be fair i think the ride is crashy and hard at this psi.
whats the best psi to set them to?
