A man who understands - or at least, employs people who understand - the maths.

He can't miss the ramp if he comes off at the right position, and he can practice the speed at ground level; that ramp's one of those constant-g deceleration things.

What could go wrong? Mechanical failure on takeoff. That's about it... if he has the speed he needs, he ends up on top - slap in the centre of the landing mats, you note - and as it's at the top of the arc, he has very little vertical speed when he hits. Coming down, no matter how fast he comes off the edge he hits that curve somewhere... all he has to do is be fast enough not to tumble so he lands right side up.

I think, on all due consideration, that I'd rather do it in something with rear wheel drive, the better to manage the rotation... but in general, I'd rather do it with a wing attached!

or too fast that he misses too much of the curve, or worse misses it completely.

The mechanics of it aren't difficult, as you say, it's the psychological part that must be the hardest. I think I'd panic and forget to change gear or something equally silly laugh
