As some of you may know, I owe my life to the good offices of the Surrey Air Ambulance Service and their crews. You may not know that the service is supported entirely by donations...

Last year at Brooklands, I rashly promised to take the coupe up the hill run if I could get some sponsorship from the fine souls of FCCUK. Hill runs are apparently to be more organised than in previous years, with a limited number from each club, but Bob is trying to wangle me an extra slot.

http://www.auto-italia.co.uk/mepasite/330/Auto_Italia_Events.aspx

If I can persuade you to contribute to the upkeep of this most excellent service, then you'll get the chance to see if I can melt my engine halfway up the hill, and the knowledge that you are helping to keep a vital service in the air.

Don't send any money now!

If you wish to sponsor me, just stick a name below here; I'll chase you to remind you after the event. When the time comes to pay, it's best for the service if you send them money direct; that way they can recover the tax you've already paid on it.

http://www.surreyairambulance.co.uk/support and click on Secure Online Donation.

My part of the deal:
- get the slowest coupe in the range up the hill
- chase everyone who's promised a donation
- match the first fifty quid with fifty of my own hard-earned quidlets

Your part of the deal:
- sit back and laugh when I break it
- send money and keep that ambulance flying

Many, many thanks,

Neil

Excellent cause Neil,

My family have raised a few squid for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance using this beasty!

Perhaps we could arrange a race down the hill to raise some more money, just put some stickers on the side!

Mark

Its a very worthy cause, stick me down too.

Incidentally I'll be joining you on the hill as well Neil in my 'fastest' in the range car - doesn't mean it won't break.

regards

Rich

Consider yourself sponsored.

But there is no way I will be there - so I'm looking for video - or at least photos!

No, no, no. Elmet wasnt the King. Elmet was the Kingdom. The last king was the not-very-snappily-named Ceredig ap Gwallog, who was deposed in 616.

However, the name is still in some of the local villages. See Sherburn-in-Elmet, which is just north of Mansillaland.

Anyhow, back on topic....

Dashcam? Gaffer taped to the bonnet? Wife in passenger seat? Might even get authentic screaming.

Thanks guys.

Mansilla, I'm a Wakefield lad - I had some vague memory that Elmet extended as far south as there, but of course pretty much all that's left these days is the names at Sherburn and Barwick-in-Elmet. Shame.
