No balancer shaft is still there, just the seal decided not to do its job.

Since then Alexis' dremmel action on the front gearbox mount had broken into the sump/crankcase region and had to be sealed up - 6 spd conversion forget about it. Guy came down again to see the issue, I have to admit kinda funny hearing over speaker phone Guy say to Alexis - "why did you do that?" smile

Latest is the Tial gate isn't holding the signal pressure, so its been taken apart and sealed to maintain a constant pressure. long day for Beggars, the more bits you change the more that can go wrong - especially if you check everything.

Nope, but it's blowing off the throttle body anyway.

as a little comparrison.... Nigels is making 275 at the flywheel at 5000 revs with same boost!
with smaller turbo, it then goes on to nearly 400 bhp (flywheel) if i remember correctly?? So i'm estimating yours will comfortably do 425 at just 1 bar..... Very impressive!
if this beast doesn't make 500 bhp i'll eat my own...... Hat! smile

Nick, the revs are approx as my rev counter isn't working currently and Phil is generally watching the laptop than anything else. I would love to see you eating a hat though laugh

Good to see some more progress Begbie

Nice brakes! Where did you order them from?

Any chance you could do me a favour before you fit them? If/when my discs need renewing I might look into getting some bigger ones (305 to 330mm). The D2 and k-sport calipers are almost identical. Would you be able to measure your alloy bells so I can check if they are the same as mine, hopefully I can just buy new discs and space out the caliper a little with a custom bracket and bobs your uncle.

I ordered the brake from these guys since the MLR were raving about their brake pads, noticed they were a dealer, so dropped them an email and did me a good price on them wink

I'll have a look at the dimensions for you over the weekend, my micrometer battery has died so will only be able to give you approx dimensions

My micrometer battery just died too - you'll need an LR44/A76 battery if you have halfords one laugh (I got mine off ebay for dirt cheap)

I'm in no rush, just please measure them before you stick them on the car.

Cheers
Chris

that was soooo close to being spot on..

is Lance at OJZ going to sort it or the other place?
it just needs a small amendment to it for it to fit!!
its like the tube needs to be bent a little bit over towards the enigne and shortened a little to allow the correct clearance!!!

are you going to heat wrap that manifold??

Nortech are sorting it, they made the modifications, so they will correct it. Lance is just too booked up to do anything.

Basically the wastegate is going to be pointed down slightly more, chop the bend by about 10mm by the flange for the wastegate and bring it in closer to the manifold. Heatwrap will go on the downpipe and external wastegate tube, not the manifold.

The CarboTech XP8 is a very good pad. Don't forget to upgrade the rear ones as well.

lets hope the rad can cop with the extra radiated heat. You might find it will be ok on the dyno but on the road in traffic after a blast it might overheat so keep an eye on you coolant temp. I assume the DTA dosen't use the idle control vale and your using scatter spark to idle the engine.

Go luck with the mappping this week that is the scary part.

The DTA can use an ICV but decided against using one. No scatter spark either, the car can idle without the need for an ICV on the 16v's.

I'll try and do something with the wastegate pipe, but for the time being, get it mapped and get it home, then I can spend time at home tinkering and sorting things out without a massive round trip to do anything.

In a weeks time it will have results....then you can break it for parts!!

think the rad might suffer or mainly the clip thingy holding the fan on from the other side. Are those hoses going to blow off again. Good luck mate you deserve it!!

Just seen the updates - full marks for dedication. You're nearly there now.

What plans for it? PM me if it's gonna be tracked up these parts.

I will be when I get the phone call saying it's done. Already spoken with Phil at 8:20am this morning, about another minor issue, just means the boost has to be pegged down slightly until I sort the problem out, then back to his for the higher boost setting smile
