Check this...

i sent a bonnet off to oxo a member on the forum on wed by courier using DHL

what a mistake to make, as i thought it would be a good service and the things i have sent already have ben fine.

this is what the bonnet looked like a day before i sent it...

and then i spent 1 1/2 hours building a frame, and packing it in there so well as to stop any damage or moving parcels from hitting it...

poor old oxo rang me today saying the bonnet was a writeoff...and he sent me some images...

this is it packed ready to go...

these are the pictures he sent me, and i am so disgusted its unreal..

this is how they gave him the bonnet

????????????????????

????????????????????

?????????????????????

?????????????????????

DONT USE THEM...this is what might happen..its like they have seen the bonnet and just thought, hey lets ruine someones day..

savage, crap service

only saving grace is i told them its a rare bonnet and its worth loads so im going to get the money back to the sum of 300 quid, and give half to oxo, so he can get a respray or replacement and his postage back.

(what i mean is ive said its more then it is to get a better re-imbursment) 300 is a figure i would expect!!

scumbags

Before you slag them off have you contacted them to see what they will do about it?

As you've edited your post....

They are scumbags as they have admited the damage they did and have paid for it to be fixed? That seems like quite good service to me...and personally I would give more than half to oxo for the hastle of having to get it resprayed.

I am amazed they would accept it in the first place. When I enquired about getting a bonnet couriered there was only one company who would do it and they refused to insure it so I didn't bother. I know that is not much help to you, and if DHL did accept it without any restrictions they should accept liability.

I think you should be saying more than £300 as if a new one were available it would be £500 plus painting.

....they have not given me a figure, and the bonnet was £90 when sold to him...

i think 150 back if he paid 90 for it is more than fair, a lesser person would have washed there hands of it and told oxo to go though the insurance prosees on his own (not me though!)

Shaun did everything in his power to make sure it arrived there quickly and safely, i will also say 90 quid for that bonnet it a bargen, it was in good condition and de-badged very well when i saw it

im surprised they accepted it like others as its a high value item thats incredibly easy to damage

good luck in getting it all sorted people!

you know what...im sick of people with their silly comments, im only trying to help the guy, i dont owe anybody anything, i sent a bonnet to a buyer for a really really cheap price for condition, the delivery has wrecked it, and i have nothing, he has a now crappy bonnet.

most peeps on ebay would only give back what they received.

i dont work like that sorry for being out the box.

i want to help him as if that was me this morning i would have gone crazy.

his payment has not gone through as i told him to cancel it.

so im £30 down minus a bonnet valued cheap at £90

Totally agree with samsite and shaun2k.
I think shaun is being more than fair.

Yes DHL are sorting it out, but this is a process which should of never of happened! The bonnet should of been recieved as it was picked up, it was packaged pretty well, there was just a lack of care taken = scumbags.
Put yourself in shaun and oxo position, how would you feel?

I agree that the service from DHL was not up to scratch and very annoying indeed but I would say that they are offering in some way to make good which is a start.

Also you did not say oxo had not completed/cancelled payment in your first post which obviously changes things.

If the courier firm had been careful and used some common sense then none of this would be necessary.

The fact is, a lot of them don't give a fccuk about how a parcel turns up at a customers address - a scenario we deal with at work on a regular basis rolleyes

I had with a problem with DHL today. They didn't pick up my parcels so I had a go and they rearranged. When they came, they had only resheduled one parcel and refused to collect the other one! Even though it was booked for the previous day!!!!!! I spoke to the driv er the line manager and the department head. In the end, they gave me a credit and I sent it through the post office. It was cheaper too!

I went to DHL the other day to send 2 parcels - they weighed one (6.5kg) and told me it would be £25.00 + vat + roughly double that to increase the ins cover.

I said no thanks to which the lady told me to go online to parcels2go and pay them (I enquired and it was half the DHL price) - thing is, she told me that the parcel gets taken to DHL, they process it and deliver it, same service as if I had paid there and then to DHL! 'Apparently' they have an account and pay about £3.00 per parcel - not determined by weight.

When I walked past the distribution centre there were parcels being kicked along the floor and thrown from the back of a van onto the floor! Unbelievable, I wonder how many ins claims they have to deal with...?!!!!

I think a full refund is adequate as you made enough provision for its safe carriage, if it was damaged by the carrier it isnt your fault - i think you have been more than fair - makes your blood boil this sort of sh!tty service.

they dont cover body panel's end off so they wont pay out, tbh its actualy oversize to send with them as a parcle and should have been on a pallet, do you realy expect one person to be able to lift and move that about on there own in and out of the van?

just that this is not a very professional approach for an international company when they can't find your house and you can't contact the driver to give instructions grr grr

He mustn't have been a very good driver then, I think they were telling you a few porkies mate all van's have phones so they contact the driver for collections etc. Probally told you that for security reasons we don't give out drivers numbers.

Ive had huge problems with dhl recently. The driver actually signed for my item in his own name. Then it went missing.

oxo, I think the flames that your on about come on automaticly when a thread reaches 30 replies or 200 veiws.

Shaun has gone through a lot in his short coupe ownership and he certainly could do without this mess.
I hope you can sort it all out with DHL taking the blame

DHL are scum, sent a crank - arrived in 2 pieces, sent brake discs - missed delivery and never re-tried or told the recipient about the call - never seen again.

That was via parcel 2 go and they're a bunch of #@@!!??ers!!

Yes, but then again how many parcels do they handle that you don't hear about, people only moan about things, people very rarely say when something goes OK, esp on forums like this. If a parcel turns up on time all OK, you never post to say what a good job DHL did, but if its damaged course your gonna say how bad it was!

Not sticking up for DHL as I have never used them, but just saying the internet is very one way when it comes to thinsg like this!

I have to say, we use DHL at work and they are pretty c*** ... what they do, i.e. getting parcels safely from A to B isn't really that hard for a company of their global reach, size and time in existence. Not like they are a bargain outfit where you get what you pay for

There was a shocking story in the local paper that I couldn't help but laugh at because it was so crazy...

A delivery guy turned up to a house with a box marked 'Fragile'. When the owner didn't answer the door (he couldn't hear the doorbell for some reason) there came an almighty crash from the back garden. When he went to investigate, it turns out the driver had putted the box over the 6ft garden fence !

Turned out to be a bag of organic dog food in the box but still! laugh

We lost our car key in Italy last year. It was one Alfa flip out key. The hotel we were in found it and sent it over at my expence DHL on a Monday.
DHL the next Thursday left a note through the door to say they had tried to deliver it. I had been on night shift so was in bed at the time but I'm a light sleeper and our door bell is bloody loud. The note said to phone to have the delivery time sorted for next day. I phoned them to be told they would not re-deliver and I would have to collect it from their offices in Belfast, 25 miles away.
So I went next morning to get it (with parcel number) and spent 15 minutes with the guy on the desk saying the parcel was not one of theirs and he should know because he'd been working there 8 years, and he kept walking off. Eventually i lost the temper and started a row which brought the Manager out. He took one look at the number and said to the other guy that it was one of their international numbers, looked it up on the computer and there it was out back on the shelves.
I took the key, you know, one of those little things that fit in your pocket, asked the guy how much I owed for a key that was not delivered to my house, '£78.67'! I said your having a laugh surely, but no thats what they charged me. So I'm sorry I think they are a discrace and haven't used them since.

I don't know what they will pay for something that was second hand - it might be something that was included in the original terms of carriage. However, as a new one was £500 and it would need painting you could argue that to be the replacement cost.

As for the service from DHL it probably depends upon the driver and location. The guy who delivers and collects from me is really good - he knows what to do with parcels if I am not in, if they are sent to home and I am not there he also knows where I work and on days when he is collecting from me he will bring parcels addressed to home to the office. Couldn't be more helpful.

I use them all the time with no problems, always on time, always friendly and no issues with lost or damaged stuff. When I send stuff I always get the same driver (mostly) and he is a diamond, waits if I'm not quite ready, there's been a few times I've still been packing stuff up when he's arrived!

I've tried others but always gone back to them, the worst I have dealt with recently being Citi Link, various reason, now damage or loss, but driver attitude wasn't great on a couple of occasions and they haven't bothered to turn up twice, so they've been binned!

across the globe they handle millions of packets/parcels every single day. there will always be incidents, and there will always be some bad employees - every company has them.

yes this wasn't a great example of customer service, but knowing DHL they would investigate and try and improve the service and pay compensation where appropriate.

they are the world's biggest logistics company iirc, and operate at something close to 99% efficiency/effectiveness, which is a level at which most companies can only dream of attaining.

hope you get suitable compo, though, having said that... rolleyes

yeah in fairness to them, they were quick to send me the claim form, and they are always there to pick up at the same time (about 11am) which is a good time for me being a marathon sleeper.

the guy is helpfull, and always has a convo..so that part is ok, but its when it goes from small pickup, to overnight distribution thats the problem, board kids, and long term employees doing a scensoredt job that must be savage.

so i do expect some fun and games, but the bonnet was a jaw dropper.

A lot of my anger is from spending so long making sure oxo would be happy with it, as i always do, what i wish to myself.

so to see it like that, broke my heart and his for that matter.

Ive sent the form back and im waiting for a reply, i dont think it will take long.

As for oxo's money, i didnt realise he's not retracted the payment..(oops) i better sort that out asap..lol.

Oxo's been very understanding, and pateint though, so hats off to him.

i used ets pallet services today..

to go 800 miles to scotland from cornwall 2-3 days on an engine and head for £127 is for the service and time not bad, however im now finding issues with companies backing out of deliveries, (in good time of course) but it means that to a few good buyers that have had items off me, now have to pay extra postage as a result.

£65 all in turns into £120+

and ive slashed the money i wanted for the parts to accommodate for postage...

its not nice telling someone that the postage is over double now, and you can understand their dismay.

also as an example, say i sold an item for £150 and that was already say £50 cheaper then most, then i advertise the postage at say £30.

then the courier says they cant take it a day later, so you contact the buyer (feeling really bad) then ask for more money for postage.

in most cases i try to help out where i can, but i then get way less for the item.

so unless you give a good postal price in the first instance, that is reliable.

you set yourself up to fail, as the couriers are now pushing the price up.

but if you go with the price they are asking, and then it reflects in the auction sale, you don't get bids.

anybody know of a good courier at a decent cost??? as im finding it hard to make ends meet with the prices im having to offer peeps.

it wasnt long ago that someone said to me that the pallet can go anywhere mainland for £39 well......show me

Hope its all sorted soon Shaun.

Good to hear DHL have been quick it trying to resolve the issue. I always think its always a mark of a decent company when they handle problems well. Hopefully they will give you something decent by way of compo.

I had one shipped with a removal company coming from Scotland, it had to be when they happened to be coming down my way but they delivered it in perfect condition, well pleased.

It was the sender's idea 'rob66' and it only cost £56 including them packaging it!!!
