depends what nissan and your right a low end bmw is looked down on to but most people think cool black bmw. lets face it now a days the badge does seam to determin whats cool or not so it is relivent. if the coop was badged up as a masserati or a porsche or alike it would be cool but its the badge that stops it and its a shame really. i was have a decussion with the girls at work who all have civic sports or crap like that and they said what do you know you own a fiat, not like you own a skyline anymore! i said yeah but i like the fiat just as much and they wouldn't have it. then i said i fance a mustang gt500 in the next couple of years and then i got told i was a chav! i mean really a 35k muscle car being a chav car i don't think so! shows you what people know and how your judged on there limited knowlage. one even said they wouldn't date a guy unless he either owned a boxster s or a m3! whats a tw@t

We had some Gypo come round looking for scrap at the weekend.
'Can we take that Fiat?'
Admittedly it was sat with a flat tyre looking a bit sorry for its self but still it doesn't say much for what people think of them at the moment.

yeah they are to many around here. people think because they live in the royal bourgh they are worth something but i must admit there are enough rich people around here to attract wanna be wags. they mainly seam to be young stupid girls anyway with no brain and walk like they are special but lets face it, they are tramps.
i have never pulled because the car i have driven. have been chatted up twice on the bases they thought i was rich because a o car i used to drive but i told them where to go.

General comments are pretty good, the worst comment that I ever got was by a Shell petrol station worker who said "this is a rare car, don't see many of these around, looks good but not really that fast!" Oh well, who give a toss what a petrol station guy think, just fill up the tank and shut his mouth! Loser!

Blimey, this is a long thread! Anyway, feel I ought to add to it as i've had my coupe for 6 months now. My last car was a classic 911 turbo so how do you follow that? (the looks alone) BUT:
In Central London, on one sunny Saturday morning, while at traffic lights, I had 2 separate occasions of (tourist) guys literally stopping in the road, looking at my car, and giving me the thumbs up and saying "very nice". ...And my car is GREEN :)))
Another time a motorbike courier in a rather fast and noisy sports bike pulled alongside and shouted through his helmet "I love the sound of your car mate". Must be the decat...

I think this all goes down to personal taste. I'm an Italiaphile - always driven Fiats/Alfas/Lancias...Ignore what my profile says - I looked at this forum for years but had to rejoin to start commenting again as a former 16V owner. I recall the Clarkson TG when the Coupe was being launched and the tremendous impact the shape and design had at that time. As long as the cars been looked after and its in the right spec I'd still take a Coupe anyday over other modern variants. Especially now in the current climate where there are soooo cheap. What other car is available in the class with that performance/heritage for the money. Alfa GTV maybe - though its not as practical..... How the heck anyone would want a Beemer or similar over a Coupe is beyond me..........

i must admit the only thing that spoils my coop ownership is the reliablity but other than that it's quite fast and looks nice and is comfy to drive around.

well guess what i did lol i didn't a cheap one with high milage and rusty to crap for £800! i bought a low milage low owner car with stacks of history and family owned for a high sum. still unreliable lol oh well its getting there 5k later. but don't get me wrong the car looks great, sounds great and drives well just fear on what will go next. had a good weekend in the car after adjusting the handbrake again and finding out my rear caliper is shot.

im sorry that post wasn't very good. i have had the car about 6 months and spent over 3 grand so far! i must admit though i am starting to like the car now :-) i do have more money to spend on it again to. i think the car at the moment cost me nearly £920 a month atleast! mental running cost so far and that not buying cost but petrol and serviceing and tyres and repairs so near 12k a year running costs on this.

it would be chaper to run a 360 than this lol Only if you never took it out of the Garage, although I am sure the Insurance would still hurt A good friend of mine has a 360, and I know that I would rather have my bills than his. Over £600 for two rear tyres, £800 for a service and +£2000 on an exhaust....
Gone Audi mad!

i do agree that the 360 isn't cheap but its £100 more to insure and f you worked out £550 on maintance a month it wouldn't be much much more lol don't worry im not getting a 360 it would be a step to far.
i think my car has been the expection not the rule but if i was to start again i wouldn't go anywhere near it! my 620bhp skyline was less to run! just lol
anyway back on track guys
COOP IS A COOL CAR when it works

I have to confess that I have not read all your posts, I would be there all day :P, but I think you should have probably spent more time looking and learning before buying.
To have such bills you must have bought a cheap, rather than well sorted Coupé. This is not a criticism, I also took that route, but I made carefull checks before buying and knew exactly what I was getting into, and what spending was required to end up with a fully sorted car.
Buying cheap is only any good if you KNOW exactly what needs to be done and what it will cost. If you go in blind then you could end up spending a LOT more than you would have by buying a well maintained & fully sorted car. This is not just a Fiat Coupé issue though, this is true when buying any second hand car.

i think you need to read again as i checked lol just didn't end a good car but its ok now lol i bought it for the £2400 so not cheap as its a base model 20vt with cloth and no aircon and bought it due to the low milage, service history and owners being family members. the thing is ok i hve spent loads on it and i still seam to find bit it needs bits but atleast i know the car now and i am thinking about not using it for the stop gap i was going to be but maybe rebuild the car and making it one of the best around.

Thats a shocking amount to spend on a coupe or any car for that matter, a month. Most owners on here say to budget around £1000 a year on maintenance and yet you're spending that almost each month, sounds like unfortunately you bought a really troublesome coupe there.

it does but the way i am looking at it is that there isn't much more that can go wrong lol i do fairly high mileage but still its alot of money on maintance. a grand a year i would be very happy with that :-)
