I damaged one of my after-market 17" alloys on a massive pothole the other day and it can't be fixed. So, I put the original 16" wheels back on the front to make the car drivable - and realised how much better the car feels on the smaller wheels! It's not just softer, i think it drives better too.

It's probably nationwide, but since the snow in Feb all the roads have fallen apart around here and our council's policy is not to repair roads any more (apparently there was a vote and people thought this was a good way to save money...?) so, I think now more than ever it's great not to have low profiles on!

I will buy some more wheels when I can find some I like, but whilst I had been thinking of going to 18" for the looks, the improvement in ride on the 16" has convinced me otherwise!

Just a thought...anyone know who originally made the fiat alloys?
Possibility that they may have tooled up for alternative size moulds which may still be in existance...
Have to agree a set of 17's in plus or 20vt style would be a deffo for me!
If not might have to copy Mrs_LickyL...those look a fine set of alloys smile

Ive emailed countless companies over the years ranging from no response to £10,000 for four 18 inch 20vt wheels. I find the LE bodykit on mine drowns them making them appear smaller than they are.

Come on then, what about these?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/941827.htm

How much would we be talking to convert to five stud and purchase 4 wheels and tyres from alfa?

Having the standard or plus wheel in a larger size would be superb. But it's going to be cost prohibitive I reckon.

A couple of years back, I found a japanese website which listed thousands of wheel designs, a couple of which were very similar to the standard 20vt wheel, AND available in 17 or 18 inch size. Unfortunately I just can't remember the site. So that's not much use to this discussion, really. laugh

But may be that's the other way around this; are there any wheels currently being made, which are very similar to the standard rim? Not five spokes, but four, with a twist in their design... Of course, whether they'd physically fit is another question.

Similar style (questionable?)

Dotz Hanso
AEZ Lasco

And that's all I can find that's vaguely similar. Not the right number of spokes though, so back to drawing board on that idea!

I love Antera 181's ever since I saw them in Autocar on some car like a Maserati but not a Maserati rolleyes they're a but like a "moving" OE 20vt wheel but with 5 spokes, I was looking for a nice 17" set on eBay forever... I thought they had been discontinued?

Looks like they are still selling them in 17 and 18 inch Dave ?

Not sure how old that web page is, I just did a search for the 181 last night as it looks, like you said, a 5 spoke coupe wheel with the twist in it.

Also love the 321 smile

http://www.car-care-centre.co.uk/antera.htm list a few of the old style wheels.

Can anyone tell me (please) if the standard LE wheels are the same pattern/size as standard 20v wheels, but just coated in a darker anthracite colour. I want to refurb the standard wheels for my LE as they're scuffed to bug&ery and would like to buy a cheap set to fit whilst refurbing the LEs. And when these are done, then spray the cheap wheels in anthracite to fit for winter.

Yes, the LE wheels are the same design as the 20V Turbo wheels. The 20V n/a coupe has different wheels though.

http://www.performancealloys.com/custom_wheels.asp

theses people seem to think it would cost double the price of normal aloys to get single sets made up.
As these wheels will be custom made they are normally twice the price of normal wheels. E.g. 17x7 £1200.00 Plus (PER SET OF FOUR, ALLOY WHEELS ONLY) depending of final specification

So if anything under £1500 for a set made, with and order of say 50 sets should bring it down dramatically shouldnt it?

so does anybody know who made the original alloys?

Might be stamped on the inside of the wheels. For my Alfa wheels it says 'Toora'.
