hi guys just wanted any opions on what you guys think of hybrid turbos, as i am on turbo technics website and their hybrid turbo they are offering for the coupe has a power figure between 220bhp-300bhp, is the correct?

Also if any1 does have one, does this turbo give you that thumping surge?

or would it be better going gt28rs-rsr way

IIRC A hybrid will give that thumping surge, where as something like a GT28RS will give a progressive boost delivery - like the standard turbo but more so.

look around for a hybrid, you can get them a lot cheaper.
Your going over £1000 then the extra parts needed means it will be very pricey.
there are hundreds of threads about the GT series. reagrding cost and supporting mods needed.

I have had a hybrid turbo and now the gt28rsr. The hybrid comes on very strong and in a big surge around 3k then keeps pulling smoothly.
I brought the gt28rsr as people said they come on smooth (better for my clutch), but in my car it comes on like a switch smile huge surge then power upto 5.5k then another smaller surge and it races to redline.

The hybrid is a very good turbo and the cheapest way to get 250-300 bhp (exhaust etc stays the same)

The gt28rsr is the better turbo but you need 5 stud downpipe (or adapter), new oil feed pipe and restrictor, possible sip (inlet is 3" where as hybrid is 2 1/2 ") and i think its cost around £1000.

i am thinking of an rsr aswell but i dnt thnink i can afford that price as yet and the supporting mods, due to the car going to have some cosmetic surgery done. but i wanted to have a lil more power than i have now. So mayb a hybrid would do for now, is it worth gettin my existing turbo refurbed or try to see if i can buy one?

rathing than buying a turbo from turbo technics, is there a company who could recondition the standard turbo with a 360 bearing, staggered seals and the gtir internals? guessing that would cost less?

Give turbo dynamics a call, very highly recommended, and will build to the specs you are both looking for smile
