16vt evocars PRV Setting / EBV Recommendation #737236

I've had a number of problems since bringing my 16vt out of hibernation.

While testing the car after fixing a fault I encountered another problem. This time the car was only running base boost. (0.5 bar)

I've managed to isolate this problem to my EBV - I used my PRV (which was being used in the same circuit to stop boost spikes) and hey presto normal running was returned thankfully.

So my questions are:

What boost should I set my PRV to when running an evocars chip until I get a replacement EBV?

(I think it should be 1.2 bar but confirmation of this would be great please. I've set it to 1.0 bar for the moment until I'm sure of the correct setting.)

....and what after market EBV would people recommend - GM or Perrin spring to mind and how easy are these to adapt to fit the Coupe?

Many thanks.

evochip does boost to 1.4 but there isn't much advantage over 1.2 bar on the standard turbo. so 1.2 should be fine!

Hi Guys,
Just after some clarification on my car's PRV setup please.

I've set my 16vt with evocars chip to run at 1.2 bar whilst running in 4th gear. Now this means that when I'm in 1st and 2nd the maximum boost reading I get is 1.0 bar.

Is this normal, or do people set their cars to run 1.2 bar boost in 1st and 2nd and have a slightly higher reading in 3rd, 4th and 5th please?

Just wanted to clarify that I've set it up correctly.

Finally, would an Electronic Boost Controller like the Gizzmo IBC get rid of these variations and give a consistent and stable 1.2 bar of boost across all gears?

Many thanks.

1st and 2nd gear always show lower boost due to not much strain on the engine or turbo 3rd 4th and 5th are more strain on the engine and cause more boost

Thanks for the replys guys.

It looks like i've set it up as best I can then, think i'll be investing in an electronic boost controller in the very near future.

Thanks again.
