All comments welcome!

Good or Bad!

It's a labour of love and various problems are getting in the way at the moment, like sporadic employment!

But she's getting there slowly, loads of little jobs done and dusted.

I'm going through the same Gareth, currently waiting on mine to return from the paintshop !

Nothing as major as replacement panels required, but plenty of jobs that have absorbed many an hour so far smile

I really should get it documented oh here, I do have a paperwork diary / history smile

Whats the next on your list ?

Well, the project thread is behind and catching up, all major jobs except the belt are done now (mechanically that is) Just the belts and respray to do, although I keep finding little things to play with and adjust!

Did my cam cover yesterday, looks great!

I agree, if they'd done an LE in Scott's I'd probably have it resprayed that colour!

They didn't though, so boring solid black it is! laugh

Thanks. It's not exactly hard work, just time consuming. I'm in and out of contracts so I'm getting some more time at the moment. Slowly working towards a respray at the end of August, cash flow allowing. By this time I'll have cleaned and waxoiled the underneath and de-rusted the bumper out riggers etc. Plenty of work to keep me going!

Just read your thread. Good work mate.

Really like the rocker cover. I've never heard of Plasticote. Do you think it would look right on wheels in black?

Thanks. I'm not sure if it would be ok for wheels, although it depends how fussy you are I guess, it's easy to get a good finish but wether that finish would be good enough for your wheels is down to you. Worth a try though!

Thanks, it's actually not raining here today so I'm having a go at the paintwork!

A thankless task, I think I'm trying to polish a turd but we'll see what the G3 can do.

I G3'd my 16VT pink roof, not much joy I'm afraid! It has clear coat on it and all you are doing is cutting the clear coat. However, the clear coat does go cloudy, and when I did mine, there was some improvement.

Although I'm doing mine, it's the worst of the scratches and swirling I'm trying to clear, as you can imagine, it looks terrible on a black car.

It's barely touched mine to be honest, but there is an improvement, so some of that shitty black polish might finish getting rid of some of it. I'm not after a showroom shine, it's past recovery in my opinion, but I just need to have it looking that bit better.

It's coming on well Gareth. The replacement grill is 100% better and you've done a great job on the engine bay.

I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and get a full respray done. Doing it a panel at a time won't work. Get new badges at the same time as this really sets off the car. My coupe had really badly stonechipped front fogs which really let the front end down So after I had my respray, I replaced them with some mint used ones from Joe D.

It's great to see an LE being restored to it's former glory. Keep us posted.

Thanks Alan!

I'm only doing the bits of paintwork because of money and time constraints at the moment, it will look a fair bit better without a stoved in door and an un-dented bonnet!

I have new front and rear badges, these will be going on after a full respray, so are safely tucked away until then.

Fogs are good, the originals were terrible, but I took the ones off my 16VT which were really good. I also have a spotless slam panel to fit once I've picked it up that is!

The grill will go eventually, but it does look so much better with it. I want the original grill really. This car will look every bit 100% original inside and out (other than the radio of course) when it's done, i have no interior or exterior mods planned at all. Obviously my brakes are DBA's so that's not original but most people wouldn't know by looking anyway. Performance mods will come eventually I guess, and will only be done on a replacing knackered with upgraded basis, but are probably some years down the line yet, I'm happy enough with the performance.

Gareth

Good work there Gareth on the paintwork with the angle grinder, need to do the same to mine but mine isn't quite as bad as yours.
will be doing virtually exactly the same process (when i find my angle grinder!!) but will be priming and using speed red.
you know you are supposed to leave hammerite to cure for 6 months before fiddling with it IIRC
