Because sadly, a Coupe can be bought for £2k and any Ferrari worth having is at least ten times that, so yes, a Coupe is a cheapskate alternative to a Fezza.

Having said that, a tweaked Coupe will match the performance of any £20k Ferrari, so pound for pound, a Coupe is ten times better cool

Having said that, I'd still rather go slow in a 308GTS than fast in a Coupe

indeed there is no denying the superiority of a ferrari over a coupe. its just having someone call your car a 'cheapskate' alternative! it kind of gives the impression that all coupe owners are skint ferrari owner wannabes. i certainly don't think people would look at a coupe driver and think 'that person is loaded, he has enough money to buy a ferrari california but the tight git went for a fiat coupe instead.' surely the whole point of such a feature is to encourage someone to buy a coupe! with some things its not that much of a big deal if its a cheap alternative- for instance supermarket own brand products, a £30 mp3 player as opposed to an Ipod-such things are relatively short term. now for some people cars are the same. but when you buy a Coupe, you aren't on the lookout for any average car- you're buying a Fiat Coupe because its a Fiat Coupe. clearly you're wanting it because its special. so i really don't understand how attaching the label 'cheapskate' is going to make the whole experience of buying and driving it more positive. calling the car 'cheap' is fine, thats what it is. but to call it 'cheapskate' is an insult to the buyer.

Any idea what the other cars were a 'cheapskate' version of? Being a cheap ferrari isn't so bad I guess - god knows what the m2r and corrado are laugh

Obviously, the term 'cheapskate' doesn't take into account the huge amounts of cash that it takes to keep a Coupe well maintained and tip top.

Looking forward to the article regardless. smile
