Ben (aka Watz on here), one of our quieter members, recently dropped his Coupe off for a little fettling. Driving down from Liverpool with the car stuffed to the brim with various bits and bobs, the standard coupe was in for a performance makeover Anyway, the results are in from the local Dastek dyno... 1.4bar396bhp & 331lbs/ft 343whp 1.3bar381bhp & 318lbs/ft 331whp 1.2bar355bhp & 299lbs/ft 306whp The car has been mapped for 1bar, 1.1bar, 1.2bar, 1.3bar and 1.45bar on the five Blitz channels. Have to say it drives really nicely off boost and is nice and smooth coming on boost, a very fast car though!

What sort of £ is it to achieve the 400 bhp ? I take it the suspension and brakes are uprated to cope

I'm feeling all inadequate now Leighton - I assume the gains over mine are purely down to the bigger turbine housing and the better injectors? However, I wonder if I could cope with the extra lag of the 0.86 turbine housing - I somehow doubt it. Fellie - to do it properly and safely, I reckon you're looking at £6k - £7k, but that includes forged internals. This case would appear to suggest its not essential, which would drop the bill to around £3k, as follows: GT2871 - £1100 FMIC - £450 Injectors - £250 Exhaust - £400 Boost control - £350 Intake mods (SIP, filter) - £150 mapping - £500 Cool plugs - £50 However, slapping all that onto a car with standard suspension and brakes is asking for trouble, so budget for another grand or so to help the thing stop and steer

Oof . Bit beyond what I have in mind lol . I shall stick to my original plan of 'preserving + refurbing' the LE, then 'updating the suspension' to make it 100% to drive ( well, improved over standard, I'm not saying it's bad ) 400bhp is a nice figure to throw about in the pub, and at ~ 10k including a decent 20vt purchase, it's certainly bargainous performance motoring << goes in search of the next step on project LE 10 ( puts 350 - 400 bhp firmly to the back of his mind )

I assume the gains over mine are purely down to the bigger turbine housing and the better injectors? Pretty much the turbo, it's more efficient at the top end so will generally make more power for less boost all things equal. The most impressive thing for me is the off-boost throttle response and pick up, it's noticeable how good it is pootling around. Ben had a new engine from Fiat a couple of years ago, anyway I did a compression test before the conversion and it showed 160-162psi across all five pots, a good strong engine.

Good results Flea.. as usual Congratulations to Watz , you have nice Coupe now. I think it should be reliable with this moderate boost and standard internals. Also, good thing is that you have a considerabely new engine (2 years old) which resulted in some nice power figures. Get us some pics and videos Watz Can you post the the RR graph The setup is not far from mine. Engine wise, I'm going to have the forged pistons and rods, C&B cams, some other bits and hopefully stage 5 from Flea
