Hello fellow coupe owners smile (DanDan speaking)
As a few of you may already know me(DanDan), MattyB and my brother have gone on a "Coupe" road trip to Scotland.
You may also know MattyB has just bought Vicksters old coupe (which is going strong) and i have taken my Coupe. The route we plan to take is around 1000 miles overall, from our homes in Stamford and Peterborough.
Our first stop tonight is just outside the Lakes in Burton on the M6 (a bit rubbish i know)

We are here now, preparing for the drive tomorrow, using the travelodge WIFI internet...which "fiatcoupe" as a WIFI username is already in use shocked (anyone on here?) tongue

Not seen a single coupe yet and already covered 220 miles from SE to NW. Not sure whether to expect to see any Coupes around Scotland yet.
Photos to come at the end of the week laugh

Hey guys, i'm heading up to Ullapool in the very north west highlands tomorrow.
Leaving Carlisle, by M74, via, Stirling, Perth, Inverness and across to Ullapool.

Which way you heading? Could easily hook up if you're passing this way?

Rob.

The route for tomorrow is from here (Burton) M6, through the lakes, and all the way up to Ayr on the west coast. Here we will be stopping (tuesday night).
On wednesday we will be traveling from Ayr further north and east in a loop across the highlands and back down via perth and into Edinburgh where we will be stopping wednesday night for a pint or 2 wink
Then heading down a1 home on thursday.
Will be checking oil tomorrow morning tongue
07830040498 is Dan's mob no. if anyone fancies a mini meet(in reply to the posts above) give me a text or call(if i don't pick up i'm driving) and will see what we can do!

Weather was funny on the way up, bright sunshine and heavy rain all at the same time laugh

Just arrived at Ayr, (DanDan speaking again) been a very long but enjoyable drive. Took just over 9 hours in all today, and for the whole trip we have now covered 460 miles!
Coupes are going strong also.
We went through the lakes first from Burton where it rained constantly but with the lakes and hills it made for a great atmosphere and drive. Photos of that on the way laugh
The next route was over the North Pennines where it continued to rain. Fantastic roads though, tight corners into fast straights, got plenty of 5cyl noise smile
So glad i got my wishbones, tracking and wheel balancing done, steering feels great in the corners now!
Seen some amazing views and been on some amazing roads.
We then went across to Carlisle for lunch then up the A7 into Scotland. The sun came out and pretty much stayed out for the rest of the drive through Scotland and into Ayr.
Tomorrow we will be heading up the coast from ayr after seeing "electric brea" (any good?) then avoiding glasgow and going up to Loch Ness depending on how much time we have etc. After this we will loop down through Perth and into Edinburgh.

Really enjoying the trip so far, still no sign of ANY coupes on the road frown
Where are you all? tongue

Which route did you take after Dumfries? Did you carry on along the A75 through Castle Douglas and Newton Stewart or did you go the shorter route along the A76 through Thornhill,Kirkconnel (where I was looking out for you nerd ) and Cumnock?

Whatever you do, when coming back from Edinburgh, don't take the A1 - its slow and boring.

A68/A696 to pick up the A1 at Newcastle is a far better drive, just watch out for speed cameras between Edinburgh and Jedburgh.

Right people! (DanDan speaking again)
We are 1 coupe down! frown
MattyB's nice new Broom Yellow coupe broke down by "Loch Long" with an injector light problem. Wouldn't fire up. RAC came and recovered the car to a local garage in helensburgh. They said there was no injector pulse or spark from the plugs. They are replacing the Cam sensor thingy! tongue
Anyway, as we had a hotel booked in Edinburgh we had to head 100 miles across Scotland which is where i'm typing from now. We have to pick the poorly coupe up tomorrow making our trip alot longer and a massive diversion from home. Because of this we will me making the trip a day longer and staying tomorrow night, in Cockermouth (just above the lakes) to split the 450 mile journey up.
We did a MPG check on both the cars also, with exactly the same route, driving conditions etc and matt in his 20v got 36mpg!!
I only managed to get 30mpg frown in my 20vt.
We only got as far north as Loch Lomond and around the a82 today.
There will only be one coupe on the road tomorrow from Edinburgh to Helensburgh.
When we pick up Matt's Coupe we will be heading down from Helensburgh to Dumfries probably via the shorter route (Baz) laugh then round to Cockermouth.
Got plenty more photos and videos. Will get them posted on the weekend.
Total mileage covered so far is 710. 500 ish to go smile

Dan

Dependent on what time of day you're heading over, might be worthwhile staying on the M8 and going over the erskine bridge rather than tangling with the west end traffic in Glasgow.
If you're not in a hurry then the A811 out of Stirling is probably more scenic and less boring.

His coupe should be fixed today...hopefully, as i we can't afford to stay here much longer haha.
I did notice in one of Vicksters threads the Cam Sensor was mentioned, but the RAC managed to get it started and it was due to the car being stood and the battery going flat. Just ironic that it was the Cam sensor that would be to go in the middle of Scotland.
Setting off pretty soon from Edinburgh to Helensburgh so look out for a grey 20vt laugh

Dan

Fortunally yes! Was a scare when arriving at the garage to find the owner on the phone to Fiat talking about a "Fiat Coupe" to then find out they'd sent out the wrong part!

But luckily managed to get the part later that day! Stayed an extra night in a hotel 120 miles away to break the trip up otherwise would off been a 330 mile drive home at 5pm.

Matt's car seems fine now smile
Scotland was great, driving, scenery etc... but also glad to be back.
Will be going back up again later in the year but straight to Loch Ness as we didn't get that far this time tongue

1274 miles covered...no oil used laugh (not checked matt's yet)

Only saw one Coupe...on the A83 right up in the highlands, Maroon, didn't flash, lady driver.

Photos will be on the way + videos. (really can't be arsed at the moment, exhausted from the trip still tongue )
