Hi all,

I am seriously considering taking the coupe of the road for a year to save on insurance, tax and mot, etc. It will also give me a chance to do all those little bits I never get around to doing. I have had 2 20VTs in the last 5yrs roughly and they have always been my daily run around aswell as my pride and joy so this is very painful for me! cry
The girlfriend has a car which I will be using as she gets the train etc to work and public transport is right on our door step....its a Mazda MX3 1.6 auto.

At the moment I pay roughly £500 for insurance a year with Greenlight actually maybe £4??, I can't quite remember. Im just wondering if I do take it off the road for a year when i come to insure the car again will/could the insurance rise ridiculously due to previous quotes not being considered?

Cheers
John

,
once a car is off the road, generally its quite a expense to get it back on.

if you consider it from a mechanical stand point, having a car stand for a year means a lot of work to get it running again. oil, filters, petrol drain and refull, break fluid.
Then there is the tiers that dont like to be stood for a year

and then you have to tax, mot, and insure it. what tends to happen is it gets taken off the road, forgot about, then 2 years later you looking at big bills to get it up and running again, car gets sold for pence

if you cad get it in doors, under cover and run it every 2-3 weeks then its not so bad

Thanks mate, perhaps thats the excuse I was looking for to keep it on the road! laugh Although the way things are looking it will more than likely be taken off the road soon, I know coupes don't like sitting around for long periods of time, this will be a tuff decesion!

Cheers
John
