Hi there!
I am a member of the Dutch coupe forum and wonder if maybe one of you guys can help me out here?

It won't be long now before I'll receive my new RSR turbo from Barbz and with Leighton to do the remote mapping I can't go wrong.
Other usual tuning parts were already installed previously and the 3.8 bar FPR is on its way.

The other thing I am looking at now is to replace the standard EBV as it has a tendency for overboosting.
I was pointed out to replace it with a GM boost solenoid or a Perrin boost control solenoid for better boost management.
Has anybody any experience with these parts and which of these two has your preference?

Could you also verify the GM (general Motors?)partno. is 1997152 for the solenoid and p/n. 12102747 for the connector? The Perrin p/n. is. ASM-INT-720.
Apart from the difference moneywise how do they compare to each other?
I contacted a US company called IAG but unfortunately they do not ship to Europe. Maybe you have an address?

Your replies would be much appreciated,
best regards,

Arthur

Hi Arthur,

Another dutchie here!

You can try to send Dink a message here on the forum, i think that he offers a solenoid as well. I don't know if it fits the 20VT too.

Perhaps take a look at the for sale section, i have just bought a Blitz from the forum for a very reasonable price.
http://www.titanmotorsports.com/blitdualsbcs1.html

Furthermore i have no knowledge about the GM parts.

I have the GM Adelco EBV, great. I use it together with a new map from Flea and a new GT28R, 258.1hp @ the wheels, will be more with the coming FMIC.

Connector Partnr PT374 $15.28
EBV Turbocharger Partnr 214-474 $16.73

My wife's Volvo V40 needs a new EBV (I think) cost £40 from Volvo, but that website shows 214-474 at $51.79??? and then you still need the connector at $15.40

Hi Martijn, Dave, Doug and Per,

Thanks alot for your replies!
Hey Martijn, still interested in the wheels and tyres? LOL.

The thing what strikes me here is actually that the standard EBV is aroud Euro 100 and the GM Adelco is only a fraction of that, being roughly Euro 20 and the Perrin goes for about Euro 75.
But then again the partno´s that I was given from this US company might be specifically theirs and your p-n. 214/474
is correct

Per , I tried to look it up at Rockauto but when I look at the list of manufacturers neither GM Adelco or Perrin are listed?

Martijn, I will try and contact Dink and in the mean time do a bit of googling!
Help?

regards,
Arthur

Hi Doug!
Thanks for your assistance!
Did a lot of research and GM stands indeed for General Motors but was manufactured by AC Delco. From GM I understood that they no longer produce this type but I guess it is still sold by ACDelco but probably being old stock.
I also got in touch with Dink and he told me that they raised the price of GM considerably so he is now selling a different make which could also well be the Perrin boost control solenoid.
I guess I will go for that then as my time is limited. I will keep you people posted .

See you and regards,

Arthur

I've used Perrin on a gtec, and standard chip. Also used it on a turbo with an uprated wastgate preload spring....

Overboosted for the first few runs, then the ECU seemed to learn, and it went back to the standard boost for that chip....

Now running a custom chip from FC with no probs too cool

Folks, as said before I got in touch with Dink who told me
that the price for the GM solenoid has doubled .

Actually he reckons that the GM is good for stage
1 as also the price is fair and can hold the boost at 1 bar but recommends the AEM power solenoid for larger turbos and HP.
This solenoid holds the boost even at 10 bar without leaking.
In other words this will be my choise and already ordered it the other day.

regards,
Arthur

While on the subject, all my EBV's seem to work similarly good with the GT28R, i.e. same caracteristics and boost levels. They are Fiat, GM and Audi.

Problem with the Fiat one seem to be in combination with std (small/quick) turbo and GTEC/Novitec chip. Not fast enough?
It seems to cope well with the (slower) GT28R.

So - IMHO you may not have any need for a new EBV.

I have a feeling the OE one gets stuck at above OE boost levels and doesn't respond as quickly...
