I always had a soft spot for the Toyo T1-R but have to say I really don't think I'd ever bother again.

Both my front 2 tyres are less than a year old and look at the cracking...

Seriously not impressed. They've been looked after with various tyre dressings during winter.

The last time I saw that much cracking on a 1 year old tyre is was a Federal.

I have tried the T1R and TBH ever since the Falken FK-452 had come out I preferred those.

Maybe the next generation of Toyo's will move the game on again?

Wasn't there something about a recall for certain tyres a while back (because of cracking etc..)

Mine are fine - just checked.

Do you use back to black or anything else?

If only that was the case. I don't drive it aggressively.

Although it usually has sharp corners to deal with when getting on or off either my own driveway or my mother's where it spends its time during the week.

They can't be all that old, the T1-R only came out quite recently.

It was 2004or 2005 IIRC

I'll have a look at the dates when I next visit the coop.

Just annoying as I feel forced to replace them. I've got Goodyear Eagle F1 on the rear so I might stretch to the same on the front.

On my last set of Eagle F1's I got bulges on the sidewalls.

Trouble with tyres is everyone has a different opinion on them.

See I'm not going to recommend T1-R to anyone but experiences vary.

Might consider some Bridgestones after doing some research.

A lot of people seem to rate the Falkens. Never tried them myself so couldn't give an opinion. Might give them a go next time.

Falken's are definatly top tyres, whole new world of grip. Would definatly recommend with standard suspension set up

Camskill have no Toyo tr-1 till the end of the month so I ordered 2 Falken fk452 for the front. IMO they are not as good as the Toyos, grip wise. They also squeal more, perhaps this will settle down?

Anybody else using Khumos?

I have them all round (235/40 17s Ecsta Supra), and find them very good. Surprising for a low profile the ride is pretty good and road noise much lower than the F1 GSD-3 I had on the standard rims.

Is this for real? why are you replacing them, understand if they are a few years old but not after one year and still have loads of tread left.

it's not like you are going to push them that hard without a turbo insy tongue

i don't know about any one else, but i take no chances at all with tyres. there the only thing keeping your car on the road.

I just replaced all mine today due to the rears cracking and the fronts getting low

The Michelins on our previous Picasso C4 did the same, under a year and 5000 miles.

Have you sent pictures to Toyo, see if they'll replace them ?

It's almost funny how we take so much notice of things like this, yet walk down your street, and see how many budget / bald / old tyres there are .... shocking

The most common cause of cracked tyres is incorrect tyre pressures. If the tyre isnt at a high enough pressure the 'reinforced' sidewalls are forced to bend, causing cracks.

My Goodyear F1s proved to be cracked when I took the Coop in for the MOT. The fronts were cracked on the inside corners, so I hadn't noticed.

I got Yokohama Paradas as replacements. I didn't have too much choice at the time, but they have a great looking tread. The fella who fits the exhausts up at Motomech said he thought the Yokos were much better than the F1s.

There is a lot of good press on the new F1 Assymetrics, the Conti Sport Track 3s, and the new Pirellis (P Zero?). I am having to get 2 Conti SP3s for the Boxster now (the F1s or P Zeros aren't offered in N rating in the right size). £210-270 each for the rears!!!! So £80 that i paid for the Yokos doesn't look so bad!

Enfent, I've just replace my conti sport contact2/3's on the front of our tyre shredding 2.5T Ford S-max. I went for the Asymetric F1's They're a whole lot better than the Conti's. More grip wet & dry, less understeer/roll. I've got Eagle F1 old style 2005 on my coupe still no cracks! I swapped them for my Toyo proxes T1-R's(spare set of rims), the Toyos weren't as good in the wet as the F1's.
