just went in to my bank and relised i have had £230 deposited in my account for no reason. i get them to check who it is and its my insurance company.
very confussed as i took insurance with them about 4 months ago and paid all up front and i haven't have any letters explaining what has happened or anything.
i am worried they have canceled my policy for some unkown reason.
i will phone them to find out why but what should i say?

Err.. just explain you've had some money deposited into your account by them, but you're unsure why, and can they explain what it's for?

yeah i need to tell them the truth but i am worried they have cancelled my policy for no reason and i need my car on the road so what do i do if they say its cancelled even though there would be no reason for them to do it. and why put £230 in my bank if i paid the balance when i started?

As above; ask them why it's happened. If they've cancelled the policy, they've cancelled the policy - you need to *know*.

Perhaps you overpaid, perhaps it's an error - you won't know until you ask. But if you *aren't* insured, there's no point worrying; you need to get insured.

Why is this so difficult??

Ring them and find out why they have put the money there.

If your insurance is cancelled, then take a new policy out.

ok main problem is that the new policy will cost me more than £230 and i don't have anymore money to spend on insurance just like that. also i need it for work and i can't get to work without a new policy so i would have to take a day off work to buy a new policy that i don't have the money for!

A day off to buy a new policy!! My last policy I bought on line at 9pm on a friday evening, it took 20 minutes!

Get a policy that accepts monthly instalments.

Punch your registration number into here to check if you are still insured (as well as the advice given above obviously);

http://www.askmid.co.uk/ownvehicle/

(It isn't 100% accurate but it isn't too bad)

i don't have my detail at hand at atwork so i can't phone then untill later and no doubt there office will be closed.
the main problem is i need to know why and getting the money to pay for the insurance as it will be nearly a grand!
also i never get decent quotes but going online and getting quotes i always get stupid quotes untill you phone them. they close normally at 6!

That's a good idea smile
If it's listed on here, then you can just keep the money wink

No, but seriously: If you have an insurance certificate that says you're insured, and the insurer hasn't told you you're not, then surely you are insured, and the money is just an error! Give 'em a ring. They should be able to help you if you know the company phone number and your address and car registration. Shouldn't need any more information. Stop worrying and start calling smile

If there's no reason for them to do it then they've either not cancelled it, or it's a mistake which they will rectify.

Bottom line as above = you need to phone immediately smile

Not quite. You WERE insured last time that bit of the database was updated.

You don't need your details, you know the company you are insured with. Get the phone number off the net or from directory enquiries, and they will be able to sort it out with the reg.

I then tried my wifes car and it came up straight away so why didnt mine? mine does show if i type the correct reg in i didnt just get the numbers wrong i also put down the wrong preffix -

Could be worth looking into, carry a photocopy of your insurance docs in the meantime just in case smile
