This one comes up fairly regularly. Apologies.

In the past I have simply set the headlights to 1 and crossed fingers. Never had a problem. I am going to be doing a bit more night driving on this occasion, though.

Standard lights (so not HID).

Has anyone found/fitted deflectors. A search reveals people who were going to, but I didn't find anyone reporting back who actually had.

Can anyone say:

a) (Knowing that the offence is not to dazzle, rather than not fitting deflectors) - setting the lights to 1 is inadequate and deflectors are therefore needed for driving on the continent (France); if so
b) where I can get them from.
c) where do you put them - photo would be nice.

Maybe convert this to an FAQ if we get decent answers.

Thanks!

The best way to describe where to fit them comes with the deflectors themselves, there's a big piece of paper with the diagram for each different light type - the Coupé is included.

I just got mine on the ferry, about £5 iirc. Also available in places like Halfords.

Not sure whether lowering the lights to 1 would solve the problem or not, sorry smile I know in theory the problem is that UK car light specifications mean the lights aim slightly to the left to avoid glare in this country, meaning they are shining directly at cars on the other carriageway when abroad. Whether lowering the beam is enough to prevent this, I'm not sure.

I have used what Lucifer refers to and agree they are the best and safest option (for the purposes of being compliant in principle) to go with. Just be careful not to damage your headlights when you remove the patches.

Got mine from halfods. £9.99 with a magnetic GB thing to go on the back as i don't have EU plates yet. Easy to use as you only need to stick on the round portion. As said above instructions for coupe included.
Happy touring

the ones from Halfrauds are ok they come with fitting instuctions for all cars they work ok too, im'e just back from a tour of the alps and they deflect the light so as not to dazzle oncoming drivers,i didn't do any night driving but drove through lots of tunnels where lights are compulsory.
