Just a quickie, I think.

Had some eibachs fitted recently, paired up with bilstein shocks.

To get the tracking/alignment set is this any different from standard?

The place i've been advised does a decent job charges more for lowered cars, it does make sence to me that there will be a difference, but is this the case for the coupe?

Cheers
Phil

There is no reason why they should charge you more for a lowered coupe, there is nothing extra you can adjust on a lowered coupe than a standard one and you should be getting standard toe settings anyway !

Don't let them rip you off frown

Cheers, I shall not mention it's lowered.

They havent quoted me different, just their web site says standard cars from £16 and modified/lowered cars £25.

What are the standard settings? 0.3 +/- a bit rings a bell.

Thanks again Jimbo

They will have the settings on their computer, just make sure they select 20vt and not 16vt, the 16vt tracks dead straight where the coupe runs some toe.

The 2mm +/-1mm is difficult to convert into angles as they will be using at the alingment place.

They probably quote more expensive because lowered cars usually need camber adjusting but this isn't possible on the coupe unless you fit camber bolts.

Phil, there is a place in Wakefield called 'Gordons Tyres ' who have a 4 wheel allignment machine.

They can sort your tracking and at the same time they will show you what the camber and castor of all 4 wheels is. You get a printout with all the details.

It is £25 for the check and it will cost an extra £5 if they adjust the tracking.

Cheers Matt

There is a Gordons Tyres down the road, by morrisons.

I was however pointed to these guys by MattW that had the tuned Porto.

Would be nice to play with camber bolts, I noticed you were getting rid of a set Matt, I just dont have the patients to get a decent setup and prefer a simpler tried and test method as it were.

Cheers guys

It is only the Gordon's tyres branch in wakefield that have the 4 wheel allignment. Other branches can do tracking but not the other stuff. If its just tracking you want, i don't think there will be a great deal of difference between garages.

Whats the difference?

If the only adjustment, on my car anyway, is track rod ends.

A bit of googling answered my question.

MattW was right, spot on fella and gave me a 45 minute lesson in suspension geometry.

Turns out I was running 9mm of toe out on both front wheels, causing wear on the inside of both front tyres and 'feathering' across the front tyres.

It's strange, a bit or reading suggests toe out is better for cornering, I wasnt feeling that before, just alot of tyre screetch around round abouts.
I was however seeing the constant need for adjustment in a straight line.

Looking forward to giving it a try, not had a chance to play yet.
