Hello all,

Is there a way to put a eibach spring black instead of the usual red without damaging it?

The guys at MOT want to fail my car because here is not permitted other than standard springs!

Yes but how?

Do I strip the original paint before?
Do I paint over it?
If I do will it stick for how long?

A more permanent way would be to have the springs powder coated in black, that's how they come out of the spring factory. They may need shot blasting first to remove the old paint though.

A cheap way is to spray them but it won't last long.

Thanks Jimbo. Unfortunately... That's what I've imagined frown

To Johna: Yes! I've tried! This guys won't give a rest! A couple of days ago I've saw a TV broadcast news that made a piece about tunning and even I didn't realized until then that tunned cars are not allowed to drive in the streets!!!!

They transport their cars on trucks to all their meets!!!! Go figure that...

my mot guys dont mid tunned or non tunned cars as long as your insured with lowered springs your car is there for road legal.

i would try a garage what deals with performance cars insted of a normal mot center

is your springs declared on your insurance if so i cant see a problem as your car is insured to drive on lower springs so the mot center cant fail it, and if they follow the same guide lines as uk mot's as long as the spring isnt snapped and the spring bounce is sufficient no problems

Thanks for the reminder Jimbo. And thanks to all other users and their suggestions but it doesn't really function that way here!

To be honnest and say the truth, the only painless way to pass MOT with lowered springs here is to pay the MOT guy "under the table" an amount that's higher than the MOT inspection itself... Go figure that also!...

That will cost me even more than just pay the guys frown

But if what paddy says is true (and if I can arrange a way to prove it), it will certainly do the trick

I'm thesame to be honest, plus I understand spring compressors will be needed, and I have a health fear of them.

But the eibach springs were a factory option, surely that can't be classed as tuning of modifying?

You learn something every day!

What dampers were they matched up with?

Standard dampers, which isn't ideal but when new they perform alright with the eibach springs.

Ok,

So I'm going to phone Fiat importer here. I think they will not have an issue printing me a statement confirming that Eibachs were a factory option if they really were...

I will post some update when I have more news on this. Thank you all.
