My local motorfactors in Peterboroughdid mine for slightly cheaper than a standard coupe one. £150 IIRC although this was nearly a year ago so price may well have chanced since then Dan

Already got the flywheel Roger, I'm pre-empting the flywheel being knackered! While you're here Roger (if you don't mind me picking your brains quickly), out of interest, is the GTA clutch compatible with the 2.5 V6 flywheel? The people on 156 owners seem to think so, however I've read otherwise on AlfaOwner? According to Valeo the only difference is the friction material?! And one other thing the clutch is incredibly stiff, yet sometimes I'll get into it and it goes quite light for about 5 miles, and then reverts back to being stiff. I've bled the slave cylinder but that doesn't seem to make any difference

the 2.5 has a solid or single mass flywheel as does the 3.2L. The 6 speed 3.0 engines have a dual mass setup. the GTA clutch will fit the 3.2 or the 2.5 with no problems. If fitting it to your 3.0 dual mass flywheel then you need to bin the dual mass wheel and fit a solid one from the 2.5 etc.

I really don't know what Alfa were thinking when they fitted a DMF to the GTV.
IMO it should be junked at the first opportunity you get.

The box will need to come off Ben, as the diff is inside the gearbox housing.
I think Autolusso posted a thread on Alfaowner a while back describing how it was done.
I think they charge £600 for a Q2 diff including fitting BTW, which IMO is quite a good deal.
You could give them a GTA clutch and solid flywheel and pay them a bit extra to fit them whilst the car is apart.

it CAN be done without Gearbox removal. This is how the job is so cheap to do, as they dont need to remove the gearbox. If having a clutch done the bill increases, a clutch change is a lot more work than just a Q2 diff. So Roger, how do they change it without removing the box? As I am interested as well. I am pretty paranoid about my standard diff failing. Although i am told that as mine is a 5 speed the diffs tend to be stronger.

Just a quickie, guys: Is the early 20VT standard flywheel dual mass or single?
