I think it is a bit like dry media blasting but using water and a very fine aggregate at very high pressure.

coupedave Unregistered C	Mmm still not sure. I have used autoglym engine and machine cleaner, worked it in with a dishwasher brush and used carb cleaner to get it off on my water rail and it looks just as clean!!

Dax OP On a journey Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 112 West Sussex	I don't know how long it stays this clean, but you can use ACF-50, which is an anti-corrosion spray for metals and protects, penetrates and lubricates and is used widely by motorcyclists, to stop aluminium corrosion on engine parts.

However, I do now have the facilities to zinc plate, so will chemically strip the light rust off using citric acid and give them ago with the zinc plating.

I had the same problem with the power steering pulley. Could they be made of iron and not steel? Would this make a difference?
